"Pray the Rosary everyday to obtain peace for the
world." --Our Lady to the children at Fatima
The Blessed Mother appeared with a rosary in her hand
when she gave her first message to the three shepherd
children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, in Fatima,
Portugal on May 13, 1917. She prayed the rosary with
them monthly on the 13th from May through October.

Difficulty Hearing in Church?
Did you know that you can bring any transistor radio with a
head set to church and tune to channel 107.5 to receive
assistance with hearing. Those who have been using this
assistance are most pleased. The radio does not have to be
special. The least expensive ones work just fine.
Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament in St. Mary’s

always open all day Saturday and Sunday for visits.

Dear Sisters and Brother in the Lord,
Our Forty Hours Devotions were a beautifully tribute to Our Eucharistic Lord. We are all thankful to Fr.
Raymond Smart for his thought provoking homilies and for being with us for this blessed time of the
year. May our families, parish, and world benefit from this period of prayer. Special thanks to all who
helped with the closing ceremony and procession.
Please remember our school students praying the
Living Rosary, Monday, October 13, in the school
yard at 1:30 PM. Everyone is invited to join the
beautiful celebration in honor of Our Lady of the
Rosary. See the students form the living rosary, each
presenting a rose to our Blessed Mother’s image.;
meditate on the glorious Mysteries as our students
present tableaus depicting the Resurrection,
Ascension, Descent of the Holy Spirit, Our Lady’s
Assumption and Coronation. To this Spiritual Work
of Mercy: prayer for peace in our world, the students,
will present at the end of the rosary, contributions of
Soup (canned or packaged, no perishable) to alleviate
the needs of some of our Chester County Homeless
Families. Feel free to join them in this corporal Work of Mercy. In the event of bad weather the rosary will
be in church.
As we prepare for our annual Thanksgiving Car Raffle please remember the financial success of this
endeavor in your prayers. As you may remember this annuli Fall fund raiser is a major help to our budget
these past years.
The parish is most grateful to all who have made contributions of items to our SSPJ Thrift Shop. Please
know that no usable item is wasted. What cannot be sold is given to other charitable causes. +jcd

Discovering the Roots of Their Faith
Please (Don’t) Pass the Bread!
Eighth graders were asked to reflect upon and write
about the roots of their faith. This assignment helped
them to appreciate all of those who have helped to
form their Catholic faith and the benefit of attending
a Catholic School. Kurt, below left, shared about
how his grandfather, a Catholic convert, has been a
strong influence on his faith, “ . . . my grandfather
teaches me more about my roots as I get older and as
I attend church every Sunday I continue to learn
something new . . .” Kurt also appreciates going to
Catholic school where he has received the
Sacraments and “ . . . learned so much more about
my faith and how it has led me to the right path.”
Emily, below right, expressed her appreciation of her
parents and her school, which teaches her, “ . . . more
about God and allow(ing) me to grow more in my
faith . . . ” She states that being brought to Mass at an
early age and watching her parents pray prompted
her to ask questions. She says, “They were always
there and open to the copious amounts of questions
I’d ask them.” Emily says of her Catholic education,
“It helps me grow and understand my faith more and
has encouraged me to learn more about God.”
Seventh grade scientists recently teamed up to
discover what causes mold to grow on bread. They
used different manipulated variables such as whether
or not the bread was moistened and where the bread
was stored. Each day, they examined the bread to
analyze the results and make inferences based on
their observations. The students also looked at the
results of other groups to determine if the outcome
was similar. They learned that not only did moisture
affect whether or not mold was present, but they also
made a surprising discovery that the brand of bread
made a difference. Bread with fewer preservatives
grew mold more quickly! Below are Meredith and
Lindsey making their observations, analyses, and
conclusions.
