A Prayer for the World Meeting of Families
God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
you have made us your sons and daughters in the family of the
Church.
May your grace and love help our families in every part of the
world be united to one another in fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your
Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most troubled,
to be homes of communion and prayer and to always seek
your truth and live in your love.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
The 10 months prior to the World Meeting of Families have been
assigned 10 themes based on the 10 chapters of the Preparatory

10 Monthly Themes
January 2015: The Meaning of Human Sexuality
The tangible, earthly, corporeal world is more than inert matter
or modeling clay for the human will. Creation is sacred. It has
sacramental meaning, It reflects God’s glory. That includes our
bodies. Our sexuality has the power to procreate, and shares in
the dignity of being created in the image of God. We need to live
accordingly.
PLEASE REMEMBER…those who are sick in your prayers, Chase
Marlin, Beth Tomeo, Carmen Podziomek and Maryann Bunch.
For those in need of Healing Prayer there are pray overs the 1st
and 3rd Sunday of each month after the noon Mass on the Blessed
Virgin Mary side of the alter.
NINE DAYS FOR LIFE – JANUARY 17 -25, 2015
Archbishop Charles Chaput encourages the clergy and faithful

To pray with the Bishops of the United States to end abortion.
It has been 42 years since Roe v Wade and in that time 56
million children’s lives have been lost to abortion.
Our prayers and sacrifices do make a tremendous difference in
the face of
The culture of death with our real hope for a culture of life..

Malvern Prep will be hosting it’s annual
fundraiser Empty Bowls on Martin Luther
King, Jr. Day (January 19th) at 6pm at
Malvern Preparatory School. This event
benefits the homeless and hungry in Philadelphia by
selling hand-made, ceramic bowls and auctioning
off bigger, more elaborate pieces at the event. Once
you arrive at the event you will present your ticket
to the person at the front door and then go pick out
the bowl you want. You then will receive soup and
dine with your friends and listen to several people
who talk about what the proceeds will go towards
and what Empty Bowls means. This is a casual,
family friendly event that has proven to be a fun
time for all who go and has truly been a beneficial
force for feeding and housing the homeless of
Philadelphia. To purchase tickets visit our website

you and I hope you attend and have a great time at

January 17, 2015
Dear Parish Families,
I would like to invite you to SS. Philip and James School’s Open House to be held on Sunday, January 25,
2015 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. You are also welcome to join us at the 12:00 p.m. Mass that day, as we celebrate
the beginning of Catholic Schools Week 2015. I hope that you will consider stopping by to experience all that
SS. Philip and James School has to offer.
I have been a member of this school community for many years. I began here as a student myself. Attending
school here gave me many wonderful memories, learning experiences and also provided me with a strong
foundation of faith that I continue to experience today. Participating in Mass with the whole school community
and having daily religion classes are just two of the ways that the students can grow in their faith here at SS.
Philip and James.
Years later, I was able to experience this wonderful school environment again, but this time as a parent of two
students. Throughout their years here, my children were afforded an excellent education with a challenging
and current curriculum and plenty of after school activities in which to get involved. I have seen how the
rigorous academics, the dedicated teachers and overall Catholic school atmosphere have prepared them well
for the future.
Today, it makes me proud to say that I have been a part of the SSPJ family as a member of the faculty for the
past twelve years. On a daily basis, I am able to witness the caring, respectful and hardworking nature of our
students and faculty. I can see this in the interactions among students in the halls and throughout the various
service projects we participate in annually. As the students sing in their school song, “There’s a place of faith
and love, where kindness is abounding” …that place is SS. Philip and James where the atmosphere is truly one
of a kind!
I hope you will be able to join us on January 25 to learn more about SS. Philip and James School. If you are
unable to attend, contact Sister Emily Vincent, IHM, to set up a private tour at 610-363-6530 x152 or
