The Baptism of the Lord
A Prayer for the World Meeting of Families
God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our
Savior, you have made us your sons and daughters
in the family of the Church.
May your grace and love help our families in every
part of the world be united to one another in fidelity
to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid
of your Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially
those most troubled, to be homes of communion
and prayer and to always seek your truth and live in
your love.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!

The 10 months prior to the World Meeting of Families have been
assigned 10 themes based on the 10 chapters of the Preparatory
Catechesis Love is Our Mission: The family Fully Alive.
10 Monthly Themes
January 2015: The Meaning of Human Sexuality
The tangible, earthly, corporeal world is more than inert matter
or modeling clay for the human will. Creation is sacred. It has
sacramental meaning, It reflects God’s glory. That includes our
bodies. Our sexuality has the power to procreate, and shares in
the dignity of being created in the image of God. We need to live
accordingly.
PLEASE REMEMBER…those who are sick in your prayers, Chase
Marlin, Beth Tomeo, Carmen Podziomek and Maryann Bunch.
For those in need of Healing Prayer there are pray overs the 1st
and 3rd Sunday of each month after the noon Mass on the Blessed
Virgin Mary side of the alter.
Prayer to Our Lady, Health of the Sick
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Monday 7PM, Saturday, before Vigil Masses and
Sunday before 7:30AM & 9:00 AM Holy Mass.
Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament in St.
Mary’s Chapel Monday thru Friday 9AM-7 PM.
PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS, all our
deceased benefactors .
Virgin, most holy, Mother of the Word Incarnate, Treasurer
of graces, and Refuge of sinners, I fly to your motherly
affection with lively faith, and I beg of you the grace ever to do the
will of God. Into your most holy hands I commit the keeping of my
heart, asking you for health of soul and body, in the certain hope that
you, my most loving Mother, will hear my prayer. Into the bosom of
your tender mercy, this day, every day of my life, and at the hour of
my death, I commend my soul and body. To you I entrust all my
hopes and consolations, all my trials and miseries, my life and the end
of my life, that all my actions may be ordered and disposed according
to your will and that of your Divine Son. Amen

Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord,
A further word of Christmas thanks to all who helped to make the holidays brighter for those in difficult situations.
The one to one help that goes through our office each year is always impressive. People, wanting no recognition, who want to
anonymously help others are givers not only of the goods of this world but also givers of God Who is love. More than the material
gift is the realization that someone understands and wants to help. The following is a letter that particularly touched one of our
office volunteers.
From: St. Agnes Outreach Services Day Room.
Dear Father Dieckhaus, Doug and Maria Weems and Parishioners.
Gratitude to you for your friendship and generosity to people in need in our community! You have been a wonderful blessing for
the families for whom you provided Christmas gifts. They ask that we send you their deepest thanks.
It is a particular joy for us that we have this special relationship with you and that through our friendship in Christ people who
might never know one another are able to come together to give and receive kindness. We thank you for the time and effort and the
beauty of your gestures toward the poor. Such kindness is very powerful and can give hope to those struggling to survive in our
affluent county. Thank you for choosing to do something beautiful for families that you did not know. Thank you for doing
something that you did not have to do for the good of others! You are a sure sign of Christ’s Presence in our work today.
This is a very beautiful relationship and we thank God for you! May he continue to bless all in your parish with His love and His
grace. Peace and Joy in the New Year!~
God Bless .+ jcd

Malvern Prep will be hosting it’s annual fundraiser
Empty Bowls on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
(January 19th) at 6pm at Malvern Preparatory
School. This event benefits the homeless and
hungry in Philadelphia by selling hand-made, ceramic bowls
and auctioning off bigger, more elaborate pieces at the
event. Once you arrive at the event you will present your
ticket to the person at the front door and then go pick out the
bowl you want. You then will receive soup and dine with
your friends and listen to several people who talk about what
the proceeds will go towards and what Empty Bowls
means. This is a casual, family friendly event that has proven
to be a fun time for all who go and has truly been a beneficial
force for feeding and housing the homeless of
Philadelphia.

channel 107.5 to receive assistance with hearing. Those who have been using this assistance are most pleased. The radio does not
have to be special. The least expensive ones work just fine.

7th Graders Present
Christmas Tableau
Merry Multiplication!
The entire school body gathered in the church for a
tableau and music service prior to Christmas break.
While students narrated the story of Jesus’ birth,
seventh grade students portrayed those scenes. After
the service, students chose “courts of the King,”
which is a tradition in which each person prays to
choose which virtue they need the most. Below are
Lauren and Ben portraying Mary and Joseph. To the
right is Logan selecting a court from Annie.
Third graders had a merry time with multiplication
by creating word problems associated with a
Christmas theme! In addition to writing out their
problem, they drew pictures of each!
Skylar’s problems were:
I caught 8 snowflakes on my tongue 4 times. How
many snowflakes did I catch?
8 x 4 = 32
Grandma went shopping for 2 days. Each day she
bought 11 gifts. How many gifts did Grandma buy?
22 gifts.
Joren’s problems were:
Mommy bakes Christmas cookies. She needs to fill
12 boxes with a dozen cookies. How many cookies
does she need to bake in all?
12 x 12 + 144 cookies
Band Presents Christmas Concert
The band members gave a wonderful performance at
their Christmas concert! We are so proud of the five
eighth graders who have been with the band since the
beginning--five years ago. This year, 11 new students
joined the band and played in duets, trios, and as a
band. We are impressed with how much the newest
members learned from just a few months ago! All the
students in between did a great job as well!
My 3 cousins sell Christmas wreaths for their church
fundraising. Each of them sold 3 wreaths at $11 per
wreath. How much money do they have in all?
3 cousins x 3 wreaths = 9 x $11 = $99
