COUNCIL 4969
OCTOBER 2014
IGHT’ GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE K MESSAGE
There was better attendance during the meetings in September. There were new
faces and some I have not seen in a while. Let us as Brother Knights continue to get
involved with the Council and you can start by attending the meetings.
Just a reminder that the meetings are the first and third Wednesdays. If the entire
brother’s of this Council work together we can continue to make this the BEST
Council in the State of Jersey.
I would like to thank the Columbus Club President PGK Jim Erbe or Vice President Kevin Delmonico for giving an updates of their activities at the Council Meetings at least once a month and printing some articles in the PRAECO. The New
Security and Swipe Card System are installed and will be online shortly. If you
attend the Council Meetings and hear this
information first hand there will be no reason not to understand what is being done
and why. This would be the time to ask these two individuals some questions during the meeting or after.
Deputy Grand Knight John Budenas, Chairman of the God Special People Program
is continuing to think outside the box in raising funds for the
program. One example is a Breakfast at the Knights which will be held on October
12th He needs volunteers for some of the fundraising events, I am asking my
Brother Knights to step up. I am sure with the leadership of John this program will
continue to grow.
On September 13th the Pig Roast was outstanding even with the rain. We start this
event outside and when the rain came all the brothers with their families and guest
pitched in moving everything inside. I would like to thank the band KOKOMO for
being a great sport and doing fabulous job.
A special thanks to VIP Chef Neil Werner and Family for cooking the pigs all night
long. If you missed this event then don’t miss the next one. Mark your calendars
because Brother Darren Fullerton and Kim Spill are at it again on November 1st.
This will be the Annual Haloween Party for Adults. Brother Darren will have more
details in his article. Hope to see you all there.
Knight of the Month: Brother Darren Fullerton
I have selected Brother Darren Fullerton this Month because he is one of those
individuals who has stepped up all the time. He Co-Chairs two major events with
Kim Spill which brings a lot of people together for a great time. They don’t cut
corners when it comes to making everyone that attends have an outstanding time.
That’s why I am giving Kim Spill a Certificate of Appreciation. Without them
volunteering to Chair these two events this year it may have not happened. Great
Job Guys
Family of the Month: Neil and Trish Werner
I have selected Brother Neil Werner, his wife Trish and the whole Family. Neil and
his family seemed to have a family reunion the night they were cooking the pigs.
They all spent the night taking turns with Neil tending to the fires and brushing the
Werner’s secret sauce on the pigs as they cooked. I give them all a lot of credit in
performing this task because it is a tough one.

FROM THE SPIRITUAL ADVISER
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
I got a call...
From Fr. Eric Mallan...he wanted to relay to you all how much he enjoyed seeing you, and the warm
welcome you gave him at the meeting he was able to attend, and how much he appreciated the
thoughtful gift we gave him for the work in his Parish in Nigeria. As we all see, he is a wonderful inspiration and truly a “man of God.” Truely a man, “Happy In The Lord.”I got a call, in fact a number of
them. I was a happily married family man, a member from the Knights of Columbus in Peekskill, NY
when I was approached to be a Deacon. I backed away from that call. But I found over the course of a
little time, that it was a call from God, and He is persistent. I hesitantly gave in, not knowing what
was going to happen, but was open to finding out. Four years later, 24 years ago, I was Ordained by
Cardinal O’Connor in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. I have never regretted answering that call.
I have been blessed. Incidently, our Chaplain, Father Scott answered a similar call from God, and was
Ordained to the Priesthood 25 years ago. Congratulations Father Scott!I have received other calls that
have helped fulfill my life, and I will wager that many of you have received calls that have helped fulfill your lives. But it is the calls from God that enter out lives in so many ways, through other people,
receiving a letter, or in the ringing of the telephone. God calls us all in so many ways, to answer Him.
And we have choices to make...to walk away...or to say yes.Our lives are so much fuller when we do
answer His call to live our lives as God asks us to...in so many ways. To turn toward the good rather
than the bad. To turn toward being generous and charitable with and for others. By being the nice
person toward all around us, with the ready smile and words of encouragement rather than criticism.
By seeing the good in things and people and our families. By being the best person, the best Christian
and Catholic. By following Christ’s way. By being the best Knights of Columbus family member you
can possibly be.God is calling each one of us everyday, in small ways and large ways. Answer the
call. And please pray for me as I do for you. May God Bless You all. Amen!

LADIES AUXILIARY
—————————————————————————Ladies Fall is upon us! Hope you are all enjoying the cooler weather. We have a lot of exciting things planned for this year and I look for‐
ward to us all working together. A great time was had by all at the annual Pig Roast. Thank you Kim and Darren for running a fantastic event, despite the rain! The Ocean County Mothers of Multiples are holding their annual Vendor night on Thursday, 10/2 at our council. They always have a great variety of vendors and it makes for a nice girls night out. Our next meeting is Wednesday 10/8 at 7:30 pm. New members always wanted and welcomed! God Bless, Melissa
Joe Zieniewicz, our Wake Chairman, could
use some help in calling members whenever
there is a Wake for a departed member.
It won’t take much time and would be a
great help to Joe.

SWIPE CARD SYSTEM
ANNUAL PIG ROAST
Thank you all for a great day. It rained however we didn't let that stop us, the party moved
inside. The band was fantastic and we had all
the children dancing on the dance floor.
We raised $1001.00 for the club. I would like to
thank everyone involved: first and foremost
Neil Werner and the whole Werner family,
Don and Sam Obrien, Jim Erbe, Mark Taylor,
Chris Lehtinen, Mike Russo, Ken Marrone,
Patrick Fullerton, Melissa Delmonico, Joe and
Peg Kennedy, Art Bailey, RJ Smith and of
course Kimberly Spill. This event as all events
can not happen without a great support staff.
Thank you all.
DARREN FULLERTON
As you may know from our meetings and the PRAECO, a
swipe or key card system for entry into our Council
Home was approved, purchased, and installed. This was
done to protect our bartenders and brother Knights
when there is very limited attendance during the day
and late evening. We have had a few situations where
non members have just walked into the building, some of
which were very questionable as to character.
In this connection, a key card or swipe card is being
offered to those who would like one. Cards will cost
$5.00 each. I will be handling this effort.
NOTE: the purchase of a key card is not mandatory.
A brother can gain access via his membership card to be
presented when the bartender buzzes him in and requests same
You can simply drop off your full name and $5.00 at the
bar. I will activate cards at night and will leave them at
the bar for PICK UP. No cards will be mailed as a precaution to loss and possible misuse. You can mail in
your request and payment, but must still physically pick
up the card.

HI LORD;IT'S ME
If you take 1 minute to read this prayer, imagine how many prayers are going up for our country.
Hi Lord, it's me.
We are getting older and things are getting ....bad here. Gas prices are too high, no jobs,
so much corruption, food And heating costs too high. We've lost the way. I know you were taken out of
our schools, government and even Christmas, but Lord I'm asking you to come back and re-bless
America ..We really need you! Badly.
There are more of us who want you than those who don't!
Thank You Lord, I Love You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
