“United in Faith”
From the Pastor’s Desk
Last week, I invited
everyone to put on a festive
outfit for this Sunday's Mass
for a meeting with a special
guest. Well, many of you
have been wondering
throughout the week, what is
the surprise that awaits us
and who will visit us. It is
not just any guest. It is the
Lord Jesus. Watching today's style of clothing in the
church, we must say, that unfortunately the tradition of
dressing up for Sunday Mass is vanishing. It's a pity
because it's a beautiful testimony to the understanding of
the uniqueness of this day and the uniqueness of the
congregation, in which we
participate. Even the priest for
Sunday Mass wears his best
vestment. It's customary to wear an
outfit specially prepared for
exceptional events such as a child's
dress for their First Communion,
bride and groom wedding attire or
sometimes mournful clothing. An
outfit highlights our experiences of
religious ceremonies. And it is not
just a matter of "showing up", because it is vanity and
pride that begins their celebration.
Today's parable, quoted by Christ, is an admonition
of the wedding participants attire. We know well that the
value of the outfit is not in the material's quality, fashion
or price. Today's fashion and advertising deal with that.
The outfit, Christ recalls, is supposed to be an expression
of the truth of man. We know a beautiful costume comes
from the inner beauty of man. Man, through his character,
enhances his attire, since he wears his real wedding outfit
within his heart.
No one can deny possessing this inner wedding
garment. He who comes to church dressed as if going to a
bar or the football field (excluding children that attend
sports activities before or after church) should refer to
today's question from the King: "Friend, how did you get
in here without a wedding garment?"
An inner wedding dress translates into pure
conscience. There is as much of the wedding attire within
us, as there is of our conscience, sincere sorrow for our
sins, resisting temptations, keeping the love of God and
October 12, 2014
our neighbor. Apprehension for this dress is through great
vigils, prayer and moral effort. Our external dress should
express our interior. Real wedding dress is within man,
enriched and strengthened by Christ. St. Paul was aware
of such attire as He wrote: "I can do all things in him who
strengthens me." Christ was his robe and inner power,
thus St. Paul shone with his tidy garment.
Today, Jesus asks about our inner dress. We should
look carefully upon ourselves and check if, indeed, we
carry such garment. We shall take notice of its condition
since the eternal feast, prepared by Jesus, is waiting for
us.
Let our Sunday dress be a reflection of our soul and
our inner garment, and let its beauty and splendor
encourage us to improve ourselves in our daily lives.


We only have a few items left on our “wish list”.
Thank you to all who have stepped up to sponsor
these needed items.

Please continue to reserve your seats for our

Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
Pet Blessing October 3rd, 2014
SS. Cyril & Methodius
Parish School
Dear Parents,
Once again this year, we begin each week by
gathering in the gym for morning prayer. The month of
October has made this time even more special, as a group
of our teachers worked together and planned this month’s
time of prayer to honor our Blessed Mother. You are most
welcome to join us in praying the rosary. We begin at
7:50 AM.
On Friday, October 3rd, we celebrated the Feast Day
of St. Francis of Assisi with the entire school in
attendance for the parish pet blessing. We are including
pictures from the event.
This week, our older students will participate in our
annual High School Fair. Representatives from several
different Catholic High Schools will visit to talk about
their respective schools and share the opportunities which
they have to offer. Information did go home to students
through our Thursday VRE. Parents are most welcome to
attend. Please call the office if you have any other
questions.
This week, we will also have our Girls’ Volleyball
Pep Rally and Spirit Day. Thank you to the Spirit Club
for their help.
As always, thank you for all you do to support our
school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tkachuk

Please remember that the Archdiocese of Chicago is
requiring all volunteers who work with children in our
parish, parish school, school sports program and religious

and are found at two different websites. Several of these
workshops are being held at nearby parishes over the
summer and in the fall. The dates and times are listed below.
Please remember that you need to register online at
www.virtus.org before attending the workshop.
If you cannot make one of these workshops then you will
need to go to a different parish than the ones listed below to
attend the workshop. A complete listing of the different sites
for these workshops can be found at the VIRTUS website. If
you have any questions or would like a packet of
information to help you register for the background check
and the workshop please call Trish Nickleski at
630-257-9314.

Why White Crosses on the Lawns
of Lemont Churches?
The white crosses you will see throughout Lemont
in next few weeks represent the lives lost through
abortion. Since the advent of “legalized” abortion,
over 55 million children lost their lives, and their
parents and family members have been forever,
unalterably changed.” These crosses also remind
us of the message that Christ died for all sins and
his forgiveness is for all.

Tuesday, October 30th, 2014 at 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Saint Xavier University - Butler Reception Room

Written by Todd Logan, Defamation is a courtroom
drama about an African-American woman who is suing a
Jewish North Shore real estate developer for defamation
of character. The play explores some of society’s most
challenging social divides - with the audience as the jury.
Jury deliberations and post-show discussions engage the
audience in thoughtful discourse that often challenges
pre-conceived ideas and assumptions.
Some workshops require a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted.

“United in Faith”
Drodzy Parafianie,
Tydzień temu zapraszałem
wszystkich do założenia
odświętnego stroju na
spotkanie z wyjątkowym
gościem na Mszy Św. w
obecny weekend. Dobrze, że
wielu zastanawiało się w
ciągu tygodnia, jaka czeka
nas niespodzianka i kto nas
odwiedzi. A jest nim nie bylo
kto, bo sam Pan Jezus. Niestaty, obserwując dzisiejsze
style ubioru w kościele, musimy stwierdzić, że niestety
ginie tradycja odświętnego ubioru na niedzielną Mszę
Świętą. A szkoda, bo to piękne świadectwo o zrozumieniu
wyjątkowości tego dnia i wyjątkowości zgromadzenia, w
którym mamy uczestniczyć. Nawet ksiądz na niedzielną
Mszę Św. zakłada najlepszy ornat.
Istnieje też zwyczaj zakładania stroju
specjalnie przygotowanego na
wyjątkowe uroczystości. To strój
dziecka pierwszokomunijnego, ślubny
strój młodej pary albo czasem strój
żałobny. Strój podkreśla przeżywanie
uroczystości religijnych. I nie chodzi
tutaj o „pokazanie się”, bo wtedy
ukradkiem swoje świętowanie
zaczynają próżność i pycha.
A kto do kościoła przychodzi ubrany
jak do baru lub na boisko (za wyjątkiem dzieci, których
rodzice troskliwie prowadzą do kościoła przed, albo po
zajęciach sportowych) powinien do siebie odnieść
dzisiejsze pytanie króla: „Przyjacielu, jakże tu wszedłeś,
nie mając stroju weselnego?”.
Wewnętrzny strój weselny to troska o czystość sumienia.
Tyle w nas stroju weselnego, ile rachunku sumienia,
szczerego żalu za grzechy, opierania się pokusom,
zmagania się o trwanie w miłości Boga i bliźnich. Troska
o ten strój jest wielkim czuwaniem, modlitwą i moralnym
wysiłkiem. Nasz strój zewnętrzny powinien wyrażać nasze
wnętrze. Prawdziwy strój weselny to wnętrze człowieka
October 12, 2014
ubogacone i umocnione Chrystusem. Świadom
posiadania takiego stroju był św. Paweł. Pisał:
„Wszystko mogę w tym, który mnie umacnia”. Chrystus
był jego szatą, wystrojem i mocą wewnętrzną, dlatego
błyszczał schludnym na swoje czasy ubiorem
zewnętrznym.
Dzisiaj Chrystus pyta o wystrój mojego i Twojego
wnętrza. Uważnie i odważnie spójrzmy w siebie
i dokładnie sprawdźmy, czy posiadamy strój weselny?
Zobaczmy, w jakim jest stanie. Czeka nas przecież udział
w wiecznej uczcie zbawienia przygotowaną przez Pana.
Niech nasz odświętny strój niedzielny będzie odbiciem
naszego wnętrza i naszej duszy, a jego piękno i bogactwo
zachęca nas do codziennej pracy nas sobą.
Kilka spraw z życia parafii:

Zapraszamy do udziału w marszu ProLife, w tą
niedzielę, 12 października o godz. 3
PM, rozpoczęcie przy naszej grocie.
Załóż swój
najlepszy
niedzielny
strój na
spotkanie z
Wyjątkowym
Gościem...
 Trwają prace remontowe ołtarzy
bocznych, następny będzie ołtarz
główny. Naszym celem jest
zakończenie prac przed
uroczystościami jubileuszowymi 8
listopada. Dziękujemy naszym
hojnym fundatorom.

Jestem pewien, że zauważyliście
brakującą świecę nad ołtarzem.
Została ona zdjęta w celu odnowienia i będzie z
powrotem na początku listopada. Dziękujemy za
hojną donację na ten cel. Całkowity koszt
wyniesie $1,900.

Na naszej "liście życzeń" pozostało tylko kilka
przedmiotów. Dziękuję wszystkim naszym
ofiarodawcom.

Proszę o rezerwowanie miejsc na nasz
Jubileuszowy Bankiet 130-lecia.

Dziękuję wszystkim, którzy wzięli udział w
spotkaniu w Town Hall w ubiegłą niedzielę.
Podaliście wiele dobrych pomysłów do
rozważenia. Więcej szczegółów później.
Dziękujemy za ciągłe wsparcie i hojność dla Parafii Św.
Cyryla i Metodego i życzę miłego tygodnia i niech Bóg
błogosławi Was i Waszych najbliższych,
Ks. Waldemar Stawiarski
