Cyril & Methodius Parish “United in Faith” From the Pastor’s Desk Last week, I invited everyone to put on a festive outfit for this Sunday's Mass for a meeting with a special guest. Well, many of you have been wondering throughout the week, what is the surprise that awaits us and who will visit us. It is not just any guest. It is the Lord Jesus. Watching today's style of clothing in the church, we must say, that unfortunately the tradition of dressing up for Sunday Mass is vanishing. It's a pity because it's a beautiful testimony to the understanding of the uniqueness of this day and the uniqueness of the congregation, in which we participate. Even the priest for Sunday Mass wears his best vestment. It's customary to wear an outfit specially prepared for exceptional events such as a child's dress for their First Communion, bride and groom wedding attire or sometimes mournful clothing. An outfit highlights our experiences of religious ceremonies. And it is not just a matter of "showing up", because it is vanity and pride that begins their celebration. Today's parable, quoted by Christ, is an admonition of the wedding participants attire. We know well that the value of the outfit is not in the material's quality, fashion or price. Today's fashion and advertising deal with that. The outfit, Christ recalls, is supposed to be an expression of the truth of man. We know a beautiful costume comes from the inner beauty of man. Man, through his character, enhances his attire, since he wears his real wedding outfit within his heart. No one can deny possessing this inner wedding garment. He who comes to church dressed as if going to a bar or the football field (excluding children that attend sports activities before or after church) should refer to today's question from the King: "Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?" An inner wedding dress translates into pure conscience. There is as much of the wedding attire within us, as there is of our conscience, sincere sorrow for our sins, resisting temptations, keeping the love of God and October 12, 2014 our neighbor. Apprehension for this dress is through great vigils, prayer and moral effort. Our external dress should express our interior. Real wedding dress is within man, enriched and strengthened by Christ. St. Paul was aware of such attire as He wrote: "I can do all things in him who strengthens me." Christ was his robe and inner power, thus St. Paul shone with his tidy garment. Today, Jesus asks about our inner dress. We should look carefully upon ourselves and check if, indeed, we carry such garment. We shall take notice of its condition since the eternal feast, prepared by Jesus, is waiting for us. Let our Sunday dress be a reflection of our soul and our inner garment, and let its beauty and splendor encourage us to improve ourselves in our daily lives. Wear Your Sunday Best… For a Very Special Guest! And now a few things I want you to know: Join us for a ProLife march this Sunday, October 12th beginning at 3 PM at our grotto. Side altars are being renovated. The high altar will be next. Our goal is to finish it before the anniversary celebration on November 8th. Thanks to our generous sponsors. I am sure you noticed the missing candle fixture above the altar. It was taken down to be refinished. It will be back early November. Thanks for the generous donation toward this as well. The total cost of it is $1,900. We only have a few items left on our “wish list”. Thank you to all who have stepped up to sponsor these needed items. Please continue to reserve your seats for our 130th Anniversary Dinner Dance. Thanks to all who participated in the Town Hall meeting last Sunday. You brought up a lot of good ideas to consider. More details will be coming later. Thanks for your continuous support and generosity toward SSCM church. Have a nice week and God bless you and your loved ones, - Fr. Valdi Page Four SS. To strój dziecka pierwszokomunijnego, ślubny strój młodej pary albo czasem strój żałobny. Wewnętrzny strój weselny to troska o czystość sumienia. Prawdziwy strój weselny to wnętrze człowieka October 12, 2014 ubogacone i umocnione Chrystusem. Dzisiaj Chrystus pyta o wystrój mojego i Twojego wnętrza. Uważnie i odważnie spójrzmy w siebie i dokładnie sprawdźmy, czy posiadamy strój weselny? Zobaczmy, w jakim jest stanie. Czeka nas przecież udział w wiecznej uczcie zbawienia przygotowaną przez Pana. Niech nasz odświętny strój niedzielny będzie odbiciem naszego wnętrza i naszej duszy, a jego piękno i bogactwo zachęca nas do codziennej pracy nas sobą. Kilka spraw z życia parafii: Zapraszamy do udziału w marszu ProLife, w tą niedzielę, 12 października o godz. Podaliście wiele dobrych pomysłów do rozważenia. Więcej szczegółów później.
