“Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and
to God what belongs to God!”
... Today (19) is World Mission Sunday. The special collection today (19) is in support of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, which finances
the missionary endeavor of the Church, lending
support to priests, Religious and lay catechists in
more than 1,150 local churches throughout Africa,
Asia, the Pacific Islands and remote regions of
Latin America. A mighty endeavor! Please use the
special envelopes today and give generously.
... Say a wee prayer for the missionaries who have
been with us over the years: Father Christopher
Naseri, in Ikot Expene, Nigeria, Father Pat Corcoran in Calabar, Nigeria, Bishop Maurice Crowley
and Father Dan N’ganga, in Kitale, Kenya, Father
Joseph Mwongela, in Kitui, Kenya, and ever mindful of the late Father Jerry Roche (RIP) who served
in Kericho, Kenya.
... October is Respect Life month! Our ‘Culture of
Life’ team have made available to us great reading
material on the many and varied topics related to
the issue of life. Pick-up a pamphlet or two at the
back of the church.
... Monsignor Timothy Harnett served joyfully and
generously as Pastor at Saint John for 27 years until his retirement in December 2006, and was the
main mover behind our wonderful facilities here on
Encinitas Blvd.
We are eternally grateful!
‘Happy Birthday’ to Monsignor this Sunday (19).
... Contributions last weekend (12) amounted to
$16,727.00 with 398 families using envelopes.
... A further $3,740.75 was contributed ‘online’
this past week (12). 318 families are enrolled in our
‘Online Giving’. How about you?
... Our Food Pantry served 308 households in September, a total of 1,388 individuals, of whom 671
were children. ‘Thank you’ to our food pantry
team and the many who donate food and funds!
... 72 of our finest youth prepared and served 233
delicious Pancake Breakfasts last Sunday (12) and
raised $1,010.00 towards their ‘Build a House for a
Needy Family in Tijuana’ project. Their goal is
$8,450.00, so we’ve a lot more pancakes to eat!
... The Altar Society has their Annual Holiday Bazaar on Sunday, November 9 from 8:00am until
2:00pm. Donations of goods are appreciated.
Please, no clothing or furniture! Call Jan at 760

No obstante,
