From 1998 to 2013, she served in the Department of the Auditor General, most recently as deputy auditor general for performance audits in the administration of Auditor General Jack Wagner. Earlier she worked in the private sector both in banking and health care administration. Her very first job after college was in teaching, and for the past seven years she resumed that role part time as an adjunct instructor at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She holds a master’s degree from Shippensburg State University. Kirsten Julia Maurer In January 2008, Stephanie’s daughter, Kirsten, was murdered by her husband. Stephanie subsequently began speaking out about domestic violence; she has also served for four years on the board of the Pennsylvania Coalition against Domestic Violence. Her two sons, Thomas, 32, and Seth, 28, often accompany her to speaking engagements.
