Noticeboard 15 OCTOBER 2014 BIODIVERSITY GRANT APPLICATIONS Funding applications are now being invited from groups and organisations for financial assistance from the Ashburton District Council’s Biodiversity Grants scheme. Council provides biodiversity grants to protect and/or enhance indigenous biodiversity in the Ashburton District. The maximum individual grant available is $5,000 and can be no more than 50% of the total project cost. The applicants share of the project’s cost can be in kind, or financial. PUBLIC NOTICE COUNCIL SITE AT A&P SHOW Tomorrow, 16 October 2014, Ashburton District Council will publicly notify a resource consent relating to an application to erect a 4200m2 Countdown Supermarket at the corner of East Street and South Street (SH1) in Ashburton. Employment opportunities, biodiversity funding, a rubbish and recycling challenge, a hydroslide survey, civil defence and rural fire are among the interactive displays at Council’s site at the Ashburton A&P Show on Friday October 31 and Saturday November 1. Tomorrow, 16 October 2014, Ashburton District Council will publicly notify an application for an alteration to the existing designation at the intersection of East Street and South Street (SH1) in Ashburton. There’ll be lots to learn and do at the site including a competition to be one of the first swimmers to make a big splash in the EA Networks Centre, and the chance to win one of 10 family swim passes. Ashburton District Council re-homes suitable dogs that have been abandoned or surrendered, helping them find new homes with caring and responsible dog owners. Non-essential requests are normally responded to on the next working day. We are working to keep our district humming. There are sometimes dogs at the Pound who need a good home.
