MONTREAL, QUEBEC www.stpatricksmtl.ca OCTOBER 26TH, 2014 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME October 26, 2014 SAINT PATRICK’S BASILICA RESTORATION FOUNDATION Since Saint Patrick’s Day of 2012 we have been appealing to you to help us raise $500,000 to cover financial overruns in previous restoration projects and to raise money to help finance urgent repairs to our small towers or Pinnacle Project and our Chimney Project. To date we have collected $250,810 and thank you for your generosity. The Pinnacle Project was completed in December 2013. We thank the Conseil du Patrimoine Religieux du Quebec for funding 70% of the cost and Parks Canada for a grant of $100,000 under their Cost-Sharing program for National Historic Sites. Next on the list is the chimney BUT we still need to reach our goal of $500,000 in order complete the project and help with cash flow. We need your help, please make your donation to the Saint Patrick’s Restoration Foundation where the full amount is put towards restoring our Basilica. All donations will receive a receipt for income tax purposes. Thank you, Mary McGovern [email protected] Exodus 22.21-27 – If you abuse any widow or orphan, my wrath will burn you. NOVEMBER – THE MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE The Church has a long tradition of remembering those who have passed on to the love and mercy of God. We do this in a special way on the Feast of All Souls, November 2, and throughout the month of November. Here at St. Patrick’s, we have the Names of the Dead placed in the Sanctuary of the Basilica where they will remain to be remembered throughout the month of November, and at masses throughout the year. The following prayer is recommended throughout this month in private and communal recitation: “Eternal Life grant to them, O Lord. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.” MEMORIAL MASS FOR DECEASED PRIESTS OF OUR DIOCESE The 12:10 p.m. mass on Wednesday, November 5th, will be celebrated here at St. Patrick’s as a memorial for the deceased priests of our Archdiocese; Bishop Thomas Dowd will preside with many priests concelebrating. All are invited to attend this memorial mass. PILLARS TRUST “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 For over forty-two years, English Catholics have placed their ‘TRUST’ in the Pillars Trust Fund. Encouraged by this community confidence, the Board of Directors have acted with integrity in direction and managing the financial resources that provide support for the many services and programs that benefit all members of our Englishspeaking Catholic community. Pillars remains focused on its three original priorities, the support of: Diocesan Priesthood Guild and Vocations Office; the Newman Association and Youth Ministry projects; and Adult Religious Education Services.
