foundry near Istanbul has specialized
in tailor made solutions for the general
machinery industry, cement and
mining industry, marine industry,
and defence industry, producing
products such as artillery gunstocks
in armoured steel.
“To provide the highest quality steel
castings, our company has the capacity
to perform all destructive and nondestructive tests, including magnetic
particle, liquid penetration and
ultrasonic testing” says Ibrahim Arda.
Anadolu Steel Casting was
established in 1968 and has a
production capacity of 10,000
tonnes per year. The foundry uses
horizontal and vertical centrifugal
casting methods, allowing bi-metal
pipes, liners and rolls to be cast.
Important simulations
“Casting simulation is a very
important part of our methoding
system and our effort to produce
optimum quality products” says
Ibrahim Arda. “NovaFlow & Solid

eliminate causes for primary failures
well before casting operations begin.
Since we are casting very large parts,
up to 25 tonnes, a lot is to be gained
from avoiding scrap. The simulation
software enables us for instance to

check how many casting risers are
required, where they should be
placed and what size they should be.
Now we can simulate and explore all
possible pouring, solidification and
shrinkage formations, thus finding
the best casting process. NovaFlow

At Anadolu Steel Casting, method
forms are prepared according to the
results obtained during simulation.
The forms then provide the basis for
creating moulds.
Easy to visualize
NovaFlow & Solid CV is a complete
mould filling and solidification
simulation package based on advanced
theories of fluid flow and heat
transfer.
The simulation of the filling and the
solidification of the founding parts is
important to optimize the design of
moulds, gating systems and casting
process. A successful simulation is
reliant on the input of correct data
for many parameters.
“One of the biggest benefits of
using NovaFlow & Solid CV is
that it is very helpful in customer
relations,” Ibrahim Arda says.
