Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. was founded on
January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. by five
collegiate women we call our Five Pearls.
Zeta predicates herself on the precepts of
Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer
Womanhood.
Zeta was the first Greek-letter organization to charter a chapter in Africa (1948);
to form adult and auxiliary groups-the
Amicae, Archonette, Pearlettes, and Amicettes; and to be constitutionally bound to
a brother group, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,
Inc.
The sorority was founded on the simple
belief that sorority elitism and socializing
should not overshadow the real mission
for progressive organizations-to
address
societal mores, ills, prejudices, poverty,
and health concerns of the day.
Zeta's national and local service and leadership programs include the National
Education Foundation, Stork Nest, Z-HOPE
and ZOL. Although these are the signature programs of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority
Inc., the sorority prides itself on developing and participating in various community outreach programs across the country.
Well-known for its uniqueness and high spirit,
the Plainfield Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorortty, Inc. prides itself on building on the founelation of its founders. Embracing the Zeta
legacy enables these women to build on past
fraditions of service, education, and commurity outreach.
