THE Erongo Business and Tourism Expo
kicks off next Wednesday at the coast and this
eighth consecutive year main sponsor Namport
promises great fun, the capacitating of Small
and Medium Enterprises (SME)’s and plenty
of corporate exhibitors before the weekend
when the entertainment kicks it up a gear.
The official opening is at 10h00 on 29 October
followed later by gala dinner that evening.
According to spokesman Cliff Shikuambi, this
year the theme of ‘Cultivating Business for the
Future’ means more emphasis on development.
Over the course of the expo information sessions
will be held touching on topics such as procurement;
how to start, grow and sustain your business
as well as the legal perspective to running and
owning a business The information sessions are
aimed at equipping especially SME’s with the
necessary tools for trade. They are scheduled
over the three day period ending next Friday.
The Erongo Expo is the only such opportunity
in the region; promoting business, trade and
sustainable development at all tiers within the
Namibian and international business environment.
An assortment of industries ranging from mining,
SME’s, manufacturing, agriculture, government
and private entities will participate. Business
owners are gearing themselves to welcome
the influx of the masses to the region, as the
annual event usually boosts the local economy.
On Saturday morning, 1 November, Walvis Bay
residents will enjoy a street parade along the main road
from 08h00. There will be loads of fun for the kiddies
and the public will enjoy an entertainment tent near
the Walvis Bay Civic Centre where local performers
will take to the stage during the course of the four days.
Wozala Marketing and Entertainment will provide
entertaining knowledge on Namport and the industry.
“Last year we had about 159 exhibitors and this
year the number has increased to over 200 exhibitors.
The visitor footprints to the Expo grow annually as
people travel from as far as the north and south of
the country to be a part of this celebrated event on
the Erongo calendar,” said Shiuambi. “We anticipate
the arrival of South African exhibitors to the expo,
as well as from Zimbabwe and Botswana,” he said.
