Exalted Ruler Message
What is an Elk? If someone asks you this question- what would you say? With all the
changes looming here at Findlay #75, this is the one constant. We have a lot of activities
planned for the coming year to provide a social environment for us to fellowship with each
other but let us not lose sight of who we are.
Elks are people who choose to live their lives by a standard of principles including Charity,
Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity. Our focus is not to provide a social club- although we
certainly enjoy socializing as part of our organization. We exist to make our communities a
better place to live. Throughout the year, service projects such as last year’s tree planting,
serve as a way to improve our lives and those of our community members. This year we are
able to donate money to the sheriff’s office to help fund 3 GPS units that assist in finding lost
persons.
Nationally, the focus is on Veterans. Here in Ohio, Elks focus on children with Cerebral Palsy.
The money holders on the tables are one way that we raise money for CP- drop a dime or two
in next time you sit down at the lodge, ok? On November 12, from 5pm to 6:30pm or so, we
are planning to have a dinner to raise money for CP and later that month, a dinner to show our
appreciation to Veterans for their sacrifice. Make sure to mark your calendars to come to the
lodge that night to spend your supper hour with us in fellowship as we help to raise money for
kids with CP.
I am happy to report that once again we are offering daily lunches at the lodge as well as
Wednesday and Friday evening dinners. Taste by Tara, is a local catering outfit who was
looking to branch out is now providing these meals. The meals will be cooked-to-order on
site! Or- you can call in your order and she can deliver it directly to your local home or office!
I’m sure you are eagerly awaiting the latest update on the building plans. There will be an
informational meeting in November or maybe December. Specifics to be announced…
Lastly, I ask all my fellow Elks to come to the Lodge and socialize. If I am there, you can
count on me to buy you a beverage of your choice!

My Gosh, Thanksgiving is already going to be in this month, where has the year gone? We have
the NFL Sunday Ticket so EVERY game can be seen in the lounge. Come on down and have
some brotherly love. The Home Association wants to get input from you the members. To help
you communicate what you would like to see in the new building a new email address has been
set up. PLEASE give the Home Association your input on what you would like the new building to have by emailing the ideas to [email protected]
Those of you who have not yet paid your second half dues, you are now delinquent. Please pay
them promptly. Dues income is the single most important source of revenue for this Lodge.
Let’s keep em coming. Dues are $128 for the full year and $64 for the second half of the Lodge
year. You cannot win any money in the drawings or technically be in the Lodge until your dues
are paid. You may write a check to BPOE 75 and mail it to PO Box 208 Findlay 45839-0208.
You may drop your dues off at the Lodge. I have a box in the lounge. You can pay for them by
credit card in the lodge. Of course cash is good as always.
Don’t forget to buy your Ohio Elks Association (OEA) calendars in the lounge. The calendars
for 2015 are now available. The cost is $20 and the Lodge keeps $5 and the other $15 goes to
the OEA. Some of the money will help pay for youth scholarships, scouting projects and many
other very worthwhile charities. The best part is that you can with from $50 to $500. The
calendars will have a four digit number on them. This will be tied to the Ohio Lottery’s pick 4
game which is done twice daily. If your number is drawn, you win. You don’t have to keep
track of anything because the money is automatically sent to your house. It’s a great way to
benevolent and you have 730 chances to win. They make GREAT Christmas presents.
During the meeting of October 9th, it was announced that the Lodge had received two $750
grants from the Ohio Elks Association (OEA). One will help purchase transmitters to help the
Sheriff’s office locate people with Alzheimer’s disease that may become lost. The other will
help purchase some kayaks for the Park and Rec department. The Lodge also received a grant
from the Elks National Foundation for helping Hancock County Honor Flight with their very
noble mission. Soon, you will be able to pay your dues online at www.findlayelks.org This
should help us become a stronger and more vibrant lodge.
During the meeting of October 23rd, there was no lodge of sorrow which is always a good thing.
Unfortunately there were no applications for membership to read, no applications to vote on and
no one was initiated. Let’s get going and ask someone to be an Elk. Being an Elk has made a
positive contribution to your life. Now it is time to pay it forward and help out someone else
improve their life by becoming an Elk
It pays to come to Lodge! On October 9th Daniel Snyder was a loser of $95 because he was not
at Lodge. On October 23rd William Gibson was the loser of $100 because he was not in Lodge.
Come to Lodge so you can win. There is only one meeting in November and it is on the 13th.
See you at the Lodge
