Giving for the Holidays
TURKEYS FOR AM Kulp
Trinity is excited to
announce we are
partnering with
nearby A.M. Kulp
Elementary School
in Hatfield. As part of
our outreach we will
be helping with
Thanksgiving
baskets for Kulp families. We are asking
Trinity members to donate frozen turkeys or
a $25 Giant gift card that can be purchased
at the WELCA table on Sunday mornings.
Frozen turkeys can be dropped off in the
kitchen on Sunday mornings. Donations
need to be received by November 16th. For
more information, please contact Jennifer
Willison at [email protected].
CHRISTMAS INGATHERING
The Social Ministry Committee would like
to invite you to be a part of our annual
Christmas Ingathering to brighten the
holiday of someone who is less fortunate.
Please stop at our table in Hyson Hall on
Sunday morning, November 9, to receive the
name of a child or adult in need of our giving.
This year, if you are not able to get a name on
the 9th, the church office will have untaken
names or items that the agencies have given
us to supply in the event that new children or
adults arrive in the weeks before Christmas.
PLEASE REMEMBER, the gifts are due back
to Hyson Hall no later than noon on Sunday,
November 30, to be sorted, packed up, and
delivered to the various agencies. If you will
not be at church on that Sunday, you may
leave your gift at the office before the 30th.
Thanksgiving
Baskets
Manna on Main Street, will be
distributing Thanksgiving
Dinner baskets to less
fortunate neighbors in our
community in late November.
Trinity disciples are asked to contribute 500
boxes of stuffing mix (this goal is larger
than last year because of the need in our
community) and boxes of quick breads or
muffin mixes for these baskets. Please
place your donated items in the white food
bins in the lobby or in Hyson Hall by
Sunday, November 16th. If you would like
to give a monetary donation, please put
your gift in an envelope marked
“Thanksgiving Baskets” and place it in the
offering plate. Your check should be made
payable to “Manna on Main Street.”
WELCA
COAT
DRIVE
Thank you for your
continued support of this worthy
mission. We still have a significant amount
of coats to sell, in order to supply Patterson
School . Also for those coats that do not
match their needs, we are arranging for the
balance to be distributed to children in need
in our local community starting with the AM
Kulp School. There are many children who
will benefit from our beautiful, warm coats if
we can step up to the plate and find it in our
hearts to donate $25.00 per coat this
coming Sunday, November 9th. We will be
in Hyson Hall from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, and
look forward to seeing you.

Gift gloves
As part of the Ingathering

the purchase of work gloves

are especially appreciated during harsh winter
months. Lynn and I used the proceeds to purchase 130 pairs of gloves at Harbor Freights.
We expect to be on hand today in Hyson Hall
if you would like to donate an amount of your
choice for more gloves. Watch a slide show,
as you give, of the Seamen's Church Institute

No FEAST on Dec 24th
Sunday, Nov.9th at 9:30 in Room 125/127

Today, with record number of refugees in our
world, the work of welcoming refugees continues. Would you like to know how to get involved? Would you like to hear more about
the concerns former refugees living in our
area have for those still living back in Africa
dealing with Ebola?
Please join us to hear more from those who
work closely with refugees on a day-to-day
basis and to hear from some of the refugees
who have resettled in our community.

TRAILBLAZERS CLUB Join the Club!
Formerly known as The Order of the Bear,
the Trailblazers Club is a group of
individuals, families and churches that
provide generous and consistent financial
support to Bear Creek Camp.
For those disciples of Trinity who are
looking to utilize their special individual
gifts, this is an opportunity to fulfill this
desire. For as little as two hours a week
you can touch our neighbors’ lives. To meet
state requirements, it is necessary for all of
their volunteers to attend a brief orientation
class before serving. Spend an hour
learning about their operation, and you
are ready to sign up for whatever service
you prefer. These orientation classes
are scheduled on a regular basis to fit

C OMMEMORATIONS
FOR THE
W EEK
As a means of recognizing the witness of exemplary Christians throughout church history,
Evangelical Lutheran Worship includes many commemorations which may be observed in
corporate worship as well as in personal devotions.
Tuesday, November 11, 2014-Martin, Bishop of Tours, died 397
Martin's pagan father enlisted him in the Roman army. Approached by a beggar,
Martin cut his cloak in half and gave part to the man, whom he later understood as representing
Christ. He asked to leave the army, but was jailed instead. After his release, he became a
preacher, and later a bishop.
Tuesday, November 11-Søren Aabye Kierkegaard, teacher, died 1855
Kierkegaard was a Danish theologian whose writings also gave rise to the modern philosophy of
existentialism. He frequently attacked the complacency of the state church of his day, as well as
its desire to be accepted by polite society rather than be a stumbling block.
