NEWS FROM ST GERARD’S/ST ANNE’S PARISH Reaching out in Prayer, Hospitality and Action CHURCH ROSTERS 2015 Our new rosters are due soon! Please complete the forms in the Church Foyer and return to the Parish Office. We would love to see new faces participating! Welcoming : we could do with a few more people on the welcoming roster. This is a very wonderful and important ministry where we welcome people on Jesus’ behalf to our celebration so they know we are glad to see them- He is glad to see them- and they will feel comfortable in our midst. This is particularly important for any visitors or occasional church goers but even for the regulars. We love a friendly smile to cheer us as we enter God’s holy ground. No shop assistant worth their wages would fail to greet a person who comes in to their shop-“ I’m glad you’re here and I am willing to help if you need me!” Morning Tea roster : is highly recommended for people who would like to start to get to know others better. As we serve others our sense of belonging grows. A visitor from another parish was amazed that we have a lovely morning tea every week. We are indeed lucky! As we stop for a quick cuppa after mass we strengthen our connections with each other or occasionally we may reach out and meet new people. Ladies or men are welcome to join this lovely ministry. We bring along something to go with the cuppa- doesn’t have to be home baked- whatever the Spirit moves or time allows. Next week- other ministries- what’s involved in the Mass Preparation roster, Liturgy group and Children’s Liturgy. Marian Movement of Prayer for Priests More than ever today priests everywhere need our prayers to uphold the dignity and power of priesthood . Priests are our shepherds, and the Catholic Church teaches us that they are “Living Instruments of Christ the Eternal Priest.” Pope John Paul II described the priesthood as “a gift and mystery”. A cenacle of prayer for priests is held in the Holy Spirit Chapel at 10:00am each Saturday morning with the exception of the 1st Saturday of the month. Please come along and pray with us through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
