Chaplaincy
The Lord be with you! As we mark this month,
which includes Thanksgiving Day, we are annually
encouraged to think of something for which to be
thankful. (At least one thing!) In your personal
cornucopia of blessings, what would you include?
Each year my ‘horn of plenty’ includes various items.
Some items are present each year. Others are present
in a particular year. And usually my cornucopia is
filled to overflowing with ‘stuff ’ for which to give
thanks. But, this year I do not need to be encouraged
to give thanks. My ‘stuff ’ comes and goes. But, what
remains constant each and every day throughout the
year, is the sense of thanksgiving I have for the various
ways the Holy Spirit continues to manifest itself here
at Bartels. I see the Holy Spirit active among staff. I
see the Holy Spirit active as staff ministers to residents.
And I see the Holy Spirit active as residents often
minister to staff. Each and every day there are many
occasions through which the Holy Spirit manifests
itself. In my years of parish ministry there were many
occasions through which the Holy Spirit made itself
known. Here at Bartels, the Holy Spirit seems to
be working overtime. In all my years of annually
giving thanks I have never given thanks for the Holy
Spirit. This year the Holy Spirit takes central place
in my personal cornucopia. As you consider your
blessings…leave room for the Holy Spirit. And if you
want to see that Holy Spirit in action…you are invited
to visit Bartels. What more can be said than… ‘Thanks
be to God.’
Blessings+++

A note from Leisure Services
Thanks to the help of many, our annual Trick-orTreat night was a success! Our residents love to meet
the children of our staff and see those they know
from the community. They are still talking about
the cute children and costumes! Thanks to those
who participated. We had over 300 children and
92 residents participate! Thank you to individual
donations and to the following businesses for the
generous donations in making our Annual Trickor-Treat night a success—we couldn’t do it without
your support! Compassionate Care Vet Clinic,
Denver Savings Bank, Dollar General, Heritage
Dental, Miller True Value Hardware, Nestle, Rada
Manufacturing, Roling Motors, St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, Subway and Walsworth Family Dentistry.
