Frances Marie Siewert — Red Wing

Frances Marie (Jablonske) Siewert, 94, of Red Wing, died
Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park, where she lived
since 2010.
Frances was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Red Wing,
the daughter of William and Hazel (Hultberg)
Jablonske. She was baptized in May 1920 and
confirmed March 25, 1934, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended Jefferson School and
later graduated from Red Wing Central High in
1938. Frances married William H. Siewert on
April 25, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., and they
were married for over 50 years. Frances worked
at the St. Paul downtown airport during World
Siewert
War II as an aviation mechanic.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. Frances joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
Nov. 19, 1957, to present, where she had been a Sunday school
teacher, involved in the Ladies Circles, Bible Study groups and
enjoyed helping in the kitchen with funerals. She was also a
member of the Leo C. Peterson #54 Auxiliary for 65 years, the
14th Armored Division from World War II for over 40 years and
also had joined the Purple Heart in 1977.
Frances and William were avid travelers to his World War II
reunions all around the United States, but her favorite place to
travel was her annual trip to Las Vegas with her beloved daughters. Frances went nowhere without her camera, which she was
well-known for. Besides taking photos, she had a deep love and
passion for gardening, both flowers and vegetables — for which
she counted the days until planting and even enjoyed weeding,
and later marveled at her reap that she later canned. Her family
was precious, so her times during the holidays were treasured;
she loved to cook and bake and looked for any reason or occasion to have the family over.
Frances is survived by her three children, Gloria Boldt, Glenn
Siewert (Anne) and Gayle Siewert; four grandchildren, Wade
(Sheryle) Boldt, Scott (Mandi) Boldt, Monica (William) Root and
Ashley Siewert; 13 great-grandchildren, KC and Josie Boldt,
Brady, Kaylie and Misty Boldt, Mariah and Chenoa Vagt, Bruce
Warnke, Kayson Morseth, Madison and Kaden Erie and Mason
and Nelson Root; one great-great-granddaughter, Arura Boldt;
along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill of
50 years, son-in-law, Roger Boldt and two great-grandsons, Cody
Boldt and Austin Erie.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be
for one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church or the Mississippi Shuffle-American Cancer
Society.

Barbara J. Ecklund, 71, died at her home Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013.
Barbara Joan Butturff was born April 23, 1942, to Lloyd and
Minnie (Twentyman) Butturff in Rochester.
Barbara lived in Sargeant, and graduated
from Hayfield High School. She married Roger
Ecklund on Jan. 29, 1960, in Sargeant. Barbara
worked for the City of Rochester in the Building and Safety Department for many years. She
lived in the Stewartville area for over 50 years
and was a very active member in the Racine
United Methodist Church.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren and traveling with the family.

Barbara is survived by her two children,
Darlya (Michael) Mathews of St. Anthony and
Gordon (Tammy) Ecklund of Cannon Falls; her four grandchildren, Jessica (Nathan) Kuisle of Stewartville, Jordan (Madeline)
Ecklund of Rochester, Erin Mathews of St. Anthony and Tobias
Mathews of St. Anthony; one great-grandchild, Gannon Kuisle;
a sister, Linda (Chuck) Willihnganz of Rochester; two brothers,
Richard (Barb) Butturff of Elgin and Brian (Julie) Butturff of
Menomonie Falls, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two
brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at
Racine United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20,
at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and one hour before the
service at the church. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery in
Racine.

Jon P. Green, 77, of Plainview, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at
Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Jon Philip Green was born April 11, 1936,
in Plainview Township, to Philip and Jean
(Thompson) Green.
In September 1967, he married Sylvia
Hofschulte in Plainview. Jon graduated from
Plainview High School in 1954. He joined the
United States Army in 1960, serving in Korea,
and was discharge in 1964. He then attended
the University of Wisconsin, Stout. Jon then
moved to Isle, and worked at the family lumberyard. In 1966, he moved back to Plainview
Green
and along with his mother, they purchased
the Plainview bowling alley “Mix-N-Bowl”
which they operated until they sold in 1985.
At that time, Jon opened the “Custom Shop,”
a Taxidermy business. He also did carpentry
work and installed bowling lanes. In the summer of 1994, he started working at the Piper Hills Golf Course in
Plainview.
He was a longtime member of the Community Presbyterian
Church in Plainview. Jon was very involved with the Upper
Whitewater Ducks Unlimited Chapter, serving as president,
secretary and treasure. He was also a member of the National
Turkey Federation and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,
golf, bowling, building fishing rods, making fishing jigs and fly
tying.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Plainview; children, Tony
McHugh, Jeff (Becky) McHugh and Paula Green (Bill) all of
Plainview, and Valerie Eggler (Jeff) of Oronoco; grandchildren,
Jesse McHugh, Andrea Dessner, Lyna Koepsell, Cassie McHugh,
Lisa Greseth, Candice Kahler, Terry Eggler and Cody Eggler;
great-grandchildren, Garrett and Blake Dessner, Dylan, Dawson
and Brynn Koepsell and Kinlee Hahn; and sisters, Norma (Bud)
Holst of Rochester and Patty Southhard of Irving, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bruce
and one granddaughter, Elizabeth.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at the
Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview, with the Rev.
John Curtiss officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with military graveside rites conducted by
the Plainview American Legion Post 179.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at
the Community Presbyterian Church, and one hour prior to the
service on Friday.

Arthur Eugene Fratzke, 85, of Chatfield, passed away Sunday,
Nov. 17, 2013, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield, with Father Patrick

Arthur Eugene Fratzke was born Feb. 28,

Winona Theatre. Later he became parts manager at C. Paul Venables Garage for nine years. In 1947, he married Louise Walch.
He became a member of the Minnesota State Patrol in 1957 and
was assigned to the Rochester district. Art retired after 26 years
as a patrolman.

Mr. Tradup, 71, of Elgin, died Sunday evening, Nov. 17, 2013, at the Seasons Hospice in

Donald Quentin Tradup was born Aug. 27,
1942, in Elgin, to Harold and Bernice (Brehmer) Tradup. He attended Trinity Lutheran
School in Elgin and graduated in 1960 from
Elgin High School. On Dec. 26, 1959, he married

Elgin. Donald farmed in rural Elgin until 1988
when he retired from farming and then worked
at various local agricultural businesses. He spent his entire
lifetime in the Elgin area.
Donald enjoyed sightseeing, going to threshing shows and
old machinery. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church
where he served on the Church Council and sang in the choir.
Donald was a former Elgin-Millville School Board member, and
a friend of Bill W.
Donald is survived by his wife, Kathie Tradup of Elgin; three
daughters, Anita (Tom) Werle of Rochester, Rochelle (Ray)
Nelson of Duluth and Nicole (Keith) McGruder of Gardnerville,
Nev.; three sons, Donald Joseph (Shelli) Tradup of Elgin, Craig
(Lysa) Tradup of Oronoco and Luke Tradup of Phoenix, Ariz.;
13 grandchildren, Derek, Trent, Quinn, Dylan, Andrew, Madi,
Camron, Jadon, Brett, Derik, Tyler, Samantha and Sydney;
six great-grandchildren, Carter, Charlee, Maverick, Bennett,
Maeson and Paityn; one brother, Edward (Marjorie) Tradup
of Brewster, Wash.; and one sister, Karen (Harry) Russell of
Midvale, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Charlene Chance, an uncle, Quentin, and great-grandson, Jackson.
