PLUS… At the From now until Dec. 12, items are being accepted for the “Stocking Stuffers For Kids” program, coordinated by volunteers at the Heartland Performing Arts Center in Ironton. “Stocking Stuffers For Kids” is a program similar to the Toys For Kids program, except that items are given directly to children in the Crosby-Ironton schools. Another difference is that, with “Stocking Stuffers For Kids,” kids receive a stocking filled with items that are needed as well as “fun”— examples include their own shampoo, soap, bubble bath, hair gel, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, glitter makeup, nail polish, watch, jewelry, hair ornaments, wallet, address book, small stuffed animals, small toys or games, small puzzles, cars, Lego sets, books, school and art supplies, activity kits, learning cards, mittens, hat/headband/ sports cap, socks, candy, large and small candy canes…basically, anything you can think of that will fit into a Christmas stocking! Also useful are gift certificates for food, movie rentals, bowling, etc. While donations from community members are appreciated, businesses can get into the act as well by donating certificates for goods or services, and even items with their business’ logo. “Stocking Stuffers For Kids” uses 100 percent of the monetary donations it receives for stockings and additional items to be given to kids. Cash donations can be sent to “Stocking Stuffers For Kids,” Heartland Performing Arts Center, 328 Curtis Avenue, Box 478, Ironton, MN 56455. Donated items can be dropped off at Heartland, or just give the Center a call at 546-6614 and volunteers will gladly pick up items. Give some needy kids in the area a happier holiday by donating to Stocking Stuffers for Kids!
