leaves on a call in basis. Residents

The Pothole Patrol has been actively filling in potholes. In the
past two weeks, 306 potholes have
been filled. To report a pothole,

UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS
o Family Movie Night at the Historic Sidney Theatre 120 West Poplar
Street, Downtown Sidney on January 16th. FREE showing of Earth
to Echo! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7:00
p.m. Tickets are required, but FREE! The concession stand will be
open.
o Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/actress Melissa Manchester will captivate you from the moment she enters the stage until
the very last song. Presented by the Gateway Arts Council Sunday,
February 15,2015 at Sidney High School Auditorium. Show starts at
7:00 PM. Tickets: $20.00
The Miami Valley Risk Management Association (MVRMA), the
City's property and casualty insurance pool, awarded the City its
Pinnacle Award for receiving a
100% SPEC (Safety Program
Evaluation Checklist) rating. This
award reflects the City'S commitment to providing a safe working
environment and our employee's
dedication to workplace safety.

of the City' S safety program.
I will be taking a personal day on
Monday, December 22nd in order
to do some last minute Christmas
shopping. I will have my cell

on December 15, 2014:
 P-14-08 Sidney Hospitality Replat: The Commission resolved to recommend that
City Council approve the replat to create two lots from one lot at 1951-1959
Michigan Street as submitted.

2014 Sidewalk Program: No written objections were received
by the City Clerk; therefore, an Ordinance to assess will be
presented to Council on January 12th.
2015 Sidewalk Program: Inspections for repair/
replacements are complete. (see area map at
right) Program will be discussed with Council on
February 2nd.
Lime Lagoon Addition: Project expected to
begin March 1st.
Lime Sludge Lagoon Outlet Drain: Punch list
75% complete.
WWTP Expansion: 90% design review is on-hold.
Meeting with OEPA to be held to review modified
NFA comments.
Water Source Transmission Line: Property
appraisals & property acquisitions continue.
Surveying & design work continue.
Industrial Drive Sanitary Sewer Replacement:
Punch list given to Contractor for completion.
Dixie Drive Vacation: 2 property owner consent
signatures remain; Council to review February 9th.
SR 47 Safety Improvements Phase 1 Walmart
Traffic Signal: Project complete.
Michigan Street Bridge over Starrett Run:
Design work continues; bidding to follow.
Water Well #1 Redevelopment: Installation of
new pump underway.
WTP #1 Wash Water Pump Rehabilitation: Necessary parts
ordered; work to commence when parts are delivered.
West Avenue Reconstruction (North to Court): Design
continues; project to advertise for bids in winter.
E. Parkwood Drainage: Work agreements obtained; survey
work to begin in preparation of storm sewer design.
Pt. Jefferson Road Reconstruction (Russell to Wells): With
2 properties remaining, right-of-way acquisition continues as do
utility notifications. Project scheduled to bid in February.
Fair Rd. & I-75 (Northbound Ramp) Traffic Signal: Survey
and design of new traffic signal to take place in 2015 with
construction in 2016.
Russell Road Sanitary Sewer Extension: Final design of
sanitary sewer to serve homes on Russell Road between the
CSX Railroad and St. Mary’s Ave. underway; construction
expected in 2015.
YMCA Storm Sewer Improvements: Survey work
continues for the design and construction to replace
an existing storm sewer behind the YMCA.

SHE-SR 47 16.46 (Tawawa Creek Bridge Replacement) PID 83585: Surface course and striping in place;
roadway reopened. Compacted aggregate stone has been placed on bike path and is passable to runners/walkers
but paving isn’t anticipated until next spring.
D07 BH FY14 Bridge Repair PID 94483: Pier & abutment patching on various bridges in District 7 including
SR 47 over I-75 continues. Project completion expected by September 30, 2015.
MIA/SHE IR 75 18.90/0.00 PID 78425: Season 1 of the I-75 milling and resurfacing project (south of Sidney to
Piqua) is complete. Season 2 (River Rd. to SR 274) will begin in spring.
2015/2016
SR 47 Safety Improvements Phase II (Vandemark to Folkerth) PID 95244: Right-of-way acquisition continues.
SHE-SR 47 Urban Paving Program (Vandemark to I-75 & Fourth Ave. to Ohio Ave) PID 97380: ODOT to
administer pavement planing & asphalt concrete resurfacing combined project. Project to advertise in October
2015, with paving in spring of 2016. Revised preliminary legislation to be presented to Council.
SHE-West Michigan Bridge over CSX PID 93851: Stage 2 plans continue. Project bidding in January 2016.
2017
SR 47 Safety Improvements Phase III (4th & SR 47) PID 98551: Project design by American Structurepoint
continues.
2020
SHE-IR 75 5.66/6.14/6.25 L/R (I-75 RR Bridges, south of SR 47 & Campbell Rd.) PID 94677: Project to include
removal & replacement of six deficient bridges by ODOT. Project bidding in October 2019.
PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT
Cargill Vacuum Addition: Site plan approved.
Dollar General (St. Marys & Russell): Building construction underway as site work continues.
Echo Business Center: Construction & site work continue; installation of water service complete.
High Ground Café (former US Bank location, Fair Rd): Site plan under review; site work underway.
Miami Properties Building (Vandemark Rd): Building construction continues.
Plum Ridge North: Gas mains & electric installations continue; testing and punch list items will
complete the project.
P&R Communications (S. Vandemark Rd.): Preparation for cell phone tower complete; tower
installation forthcoming.
Wilson Memorial Building Addition: Site plan under review; administrative approval granted for
construction. Site work complete.
