Welcome Rev. Lee Ritchie
he Reverend Lee Ritchie has arrived in WinstonSalem with her husband, Jason, and son, Warren,
this week. She begins as our Minister with Children and
Families Sunday, January 11. We welcome Lee, Jason,
and Warren to Ardmore Baptist Church and the greater
Winston-Salem area.
Lee and her family have moved here from Commerce,
Georgia where she served on the staff of First Baptist
Church Commerce for eight years. Prior to that ministerial
experience, Lee had experience in the public school
systems of Georgia for three years, something we believe
will be invaluable for her. The search team was enthusiastic in their support for Lee, as was the entire congregation - evident in the
unanimous vote in calling her to Ardmore. Lee has a kind, compassionate spirit
that will be well-received by the children and families in our church community.
She has a disciplined work ethic that will strengthen and promote a healthy functioning among a large children’s ministry like we have at Ardmore. She is a
thoughtful planner, deliberate in execution, and team-oriented in leadership style.
Furthermore, Lee’s husband, Jason, is a strong supporter and asset for her, while
their beautiful two-year-old son, Warren, will quickly win the hearts of our people.
Susan Hampton will continue as a coach for Lee during a transition period that
will conclude at the end of February. We are grateful that Susan has done such an
outstanding job building a strong bridge for Lee to travel as she begins her ministry
among us.

January Is Join A Choir Month!
elcome to a new year filled with new music and new
opportunities to serve in our Music and Arts Ministry
at Ardmore! As we begin a new season of music, I want to
take this opportunity to invite you to join one of our adult
choirs. We are officially designating January as “Join a
Choir” month in our Music and Arts Ministry. This is a
great time to join with new music and several new folks joining our ranks. We
will be rolling out the welcome mat and will have music and warm greetings
waiting for you as you enter the choir room! If you love music and being part of
an awesome team of folks who are committed to serving with their talents, then
the choir is a place for you! We enjoy meaningful times of worship, devotion, and
fellowship each and every week. The choir is a great support group, and our
greatest joy is glorifying God through the ministry of music here at Ardmore
Baptist and in our community! So, think about joining us, pray about it, and then
take that first step and come to one of our rehearsals in January! Please feel free
to stop by my office at any time, or e-mail or call if you have questions about
joining a choir or want more information about our Music and Arts Ministry!

response in providing meals and
volunteers to serve at St. Timothy’s
Overflow Shelter! Thank you to all our
volunteers who have taken part in this
ministry thus far. We still need someone to provide dinner and lunches on
Friday, January 16. There are plenty of
openings for all roles throughout the
remaining Fridays in February and
March. If you would like to serve any
Friday night, please contact me directly

Friday night responsibilities, we are
now working with the shelter to provide transportation for the guests back
to Bethesda Center at 6:30 a.m. every

Fire Alarm Upgrade
he Properties Committee has planned
a campus-wide replacement of our
fire alarm system to bring it up to current
fire codes. This work should begin the
second week of January and will take
3-4 weeks for completion. An occasional disruption may occur, but we
hope that the improvement of this
silent sentinel will ensure the safety of
our facilities and people.

“Living the Questions,” facilitated by Rick Jordan and Sandra Talton, begins on
Sunday, January 18, at 4:30 p.m. in room F202. This video/discussion series is an
opportunity to wrestle with questions that are too often ignored or avoided by many
churches. “It’s an invitation for those who seek to go beyond the stagnant clichés of
faith and pursue the questions that deepen your understanding as you make your
way through a lifelong spiritual journey.” Some of the questions we will consider
over the course of the series are: how do we deal with the contradictions in the Bible
as we know it; what is the character of our God; creation versus evolution; is God
concerned about fairness and equality or vengeance and retribution; what does
incarnation really mean; is there a different way to view the “second coming”? This
discussion group will not attempt to come to agreement on these issues, but to
simply talk about them with others who are also on the faith journey.
If you are interested, please call Linda in the church office to register for the
group and/or childcare. The book we will use is “Living the Questions: the Wisdom
of Progressive Christianity” by Felten and Procter-Murphy. It is available in paperback from Amazon.com. If you have other questions, please contact Sandra or Rick.

Ministry Fair/Chili Cook-off
O
ur Chili Cook-off and Ministry
Fair will take place on Sunday
evening, January 25, at 6:00 p.m. in
the Fellowship Hall. The Ministry Fair
is a wonderful way to learn more about
our six ministry areas and express interest in joining one of the teams. This
event promises to be a fun gathering to
