And the Lord Added Madison Spangler Page 2 April 21, 2014 Ministry Area Emphasis Of The Month Community Impact and Global Connections ishop John Huntley and his wife, Deloris Huntley, lead Alpha and Omega Church of Faith, a place of refuge and encouragement for many people living in the Ashley Elementary School neighborhood. Our Community Impact and Global Connections MALT has been forging a deeper relationship with the Huntleys as we attempt to partner with them in their myriad ministries to this neighborhood. We have provided assistance such as transportation for the Saturday Academy and resources for parents related to health and well-being. This initiative is an example of the change that Ardmore Baptist Church has embarked upon, to shift from charity work to longterm development of our surrounding community. This requires the development of relationships and an investment of years, if not decades, in the lives of our neighbors. Please join us as we begin this new journey. - Kathy Lowe B Food Roundup “... for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me ...” Matthew 25:35 he Baptist Children's Homes of NC operates in 19 communities, serving as many as 700,000 meals and snacks throughout the year to the boys and girls who reside in its facilities. I believe the Maundy Thursday service was one of the most powerful and emotional services I have experienced. The music from the choir, Norris, soloists and instrumentalists was absolutely beautiful and the media presentation, narration, and creative movement made our worship experience so dramatic and moving! I was definitely awe-inspired and drawn into a very personal and deep worship experience that prepared my heart for great celebration on Easter Sunday! I want to thank all our adult and youth musicians, and all those involved in these services for their hard work and extra hours of rehearsal to prepare for such inspirational Holy Week and Easter services! God was truly glorified and the gospel message was proclaimed in a powerful way through your wonderful talents! Now let us continue to be “Easter People” as we seek to serve our risen and living Lord and Savior! Please mark your calendars for our next Worship, Music, and Arts event “Joshua Messick” in concert on Sunday, May 4th, at 5:00 p.m. Joshua is a National Hammered Dulcimer Champion. He is truly amazing! You will not want to miss this concert. I encourage you to check out his Web site, joshuamessick. com. Please invite your friends and relatives to this special concert! This can be a great outreach ministry to our community if we get the word out. Joshua will also be playing in our worship service that morning. - David Fitzgerald C Blood Drive ourtney Krisher will be forever grateful for the blood donors who helped save her brother, Lucas. The siblings, who are both members of the U.S. military, had given blood together just a few months before Lucas was in a motorcycle accident. He was rushed to the hospital with extensive internal bleeding and received four pints of blood. “Some people call me and my brother heroes because of our military service, but I think the same could be said for people who give blood,” Courtney said. Help support the Red Cross by making an appointment to donate blood at our May 15th blood drive. We need 20 more donors to reach our goal of 50. Remaining appointment times are between 4:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Please contact me today ([email protected]; 416-6187) to make your appointment to give the gift of life. - Rob Lemons I College Graduations f you or a family member are graduating from college or grad school, we would like to list this accomplishment in the Announcer.
