Class: Bread and Chocoloate. Indulge your carbohydrate cravings with
this two-part course. Bread—We'll do a full meal including multigrain
rustic flaxseed rolls, Spinach and feta gozleme (stuffed Turkish flatbreads),
and yeast pumpkin bread. Chocolate—We'll start with a chocolate babka
with Russian filling, then bake mini molten chocolate cakes oozing with
raspberry filling and, to top it off, chocolate and cocoa biscotti filled with
almonds and dried cherries. Wednesdays, February 11 and 25. Taught by
Judy Matthews. Cost: $80 per person for materials for both classes.

Financial Aid Available for Summer Camp Programs: Families
who are interested in sending their children to Jewish camp but may have

Vote for Delegates to the World Zionist Congress. The 37th
World Zionist Congress will meet in Jerusalem next October. Delegates
will determine the annual allocations to Jewish organizations by the Jewish
Agency. The Conservative movement will be represented by Mercaz,
which advocates in Israel for religious pluralism, environmental awareness
and a negotiated two-state solution and brings about financial benefits in
excess of $2 million annually to Conservative/Masorti institutions in Israel
and around the world. Help ensure that Mercaz has a strong delegation by
voting in the elections for delegates in a few weeks. You must first join

the Mercaz membership application available in the shul lobby to ensure
your eligibility to vote when ballots become available on January 13.
Jewish Spousal Loss Group: Share the journey of loss while gaining
strength from others and drawing solace from Jewish spiritual texts. The
group will meet for eight sessions at the Beatman Center from 5:00-6:30

Tevye the Dairyman: Millions know and love Tevye, but relatively few know about Tevye's creator, the great
Yiddish and Hebrew writer Sholem Aleichem or the classic novel, Tevye the Dairyman, that inspired the Broadway
musical. Wendy Zierler of Hebrew Union College/Jewish Institute of Religion will provide an introduction to
Sholem Aleichem, focusing on the novel and its signature style, how it encapsulated so many of the major cultural
and social changes that overtook Jewish life in Russia and American at the turn of the century. Monday, February 2,

Children with Special Needs and the Jewish Community: This forum will examine current trends in how
Jewish communities engage and integrate families with children who have special needs into synagogue life, Jewish

Israeli Issues Through Israeli Lenses: Second of a 3-part course, Sunday, February 8, 2:00 PM. “The Holocaust
Survivor and the New Jews.” A look, through the study of Israeli cinema, at some of the critical social issues that

Hava Nagila (The Movie): More than just a kitschy song, Hava Nagila encapsulates the Jewish journey over the
past 150 years revealing the power of one song to express and sustain identity, transmit lessons across generations
