The second youngest of nine children and the only girl, Marie Osmond joined
the rest of her family in what could be called the family business — entertainment.
She debuted on “The Andy Williams Show” as a toddler, where her older siblings
made a weekly appearance. While the Osmond brothers found success in pop music, Marie was drawn to
country & western by the young age of six. When she was just 13, Marie became a recognized country &
western singer with the chart topping hit “Paper Roses.” Fred Silverman of ABC was the mastermind behind
teaming the only female in the Osmond clan with her older brother, Donny, to create “The Donny and Marie Show”
in 1975. Beginning each week with Marie sweetly singing, “I’m a little bit country,” followed by Donny’s reply “and
I’m a little bit rock and roll,” the siblings hosted a series of comedy and musical sketches until 1979. This was
followed by several movie appearances and a television series run.
As an icon and trusted name in family entertainment, Marie Osmond brings her warmth, joy and the
“magic” of the Christmas season to the Palace. With every wonder-filled song, this event will create holiday
memories for the whole family. From Marie’s symphonic version of “O, Holy Night” to rockin’ the house with Kay
Thompson’s “Jingle Bells,” this is a concert that will bring a true sense of celebration to every heart. Enhanced
by Marie’s orchestra and Christmas cast, the scene is set for favorite holiday tunes including “Sleigh Ride,”
“Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “The Christmas Waltz,” “Let There be Peace on Earth,” and
“White Christmas.” The afternoon will also include a medley of some of Marie’s own hits over the past 25 years,
along with a unique video sharing memories from some of the most famous televised Osmond Family Christmas
shows. This concert is like getting an invitation to Marie Osmond’s personal Christmas celebration, as it includes
appearances by some of Marie’s younger children. They’ll join her on stage and welcome a sleigh full of holiday
cheer with a visit from Santa Claus.
In addition to performing, she has made an exercise video for pregnant women, published a beauty
book, designed a line of clothing patterns, and oversees the manufacturing of fine porcelain collector dolls,
which she makes available on shopping networks and at Disney theme parks. In addition, Marie is committed to
helping children. In the ’80s she and actor John Schneider founded the Children’s Miracle Network, a charitable
organization that helps children’s hospitals around the world.
This event is a holiday memory in the making, gift-wrapped and delivered at Marion’s Palace Theatre.
Marion General Hospital and National City Bank generously sponsor this holiday concert.
Quilt Raffle for Capital Campaign
Bits & Pieces Quilt Guild visited the Palace
to gather ideas for the creation of a quilt in
appreciation for the contribution the Palace
makes to the Marion area. The elements
represented include the stained glass
ceiling lights located under the balcony, the
twinkling stars in the ceiling, the beautiful
red curtain on stage, and the mighty
Wurlitzer organ. Quilted into the border are
the Palace marquee and the trademark
parrot that resides in every Eberson theatre.
Guild members spent 180 hours working on
this quilt in the
summer of 2006.
The quilt is on display
in the lobby. Raffle
tickets are $10 each
and are available at
the theatre box office
during regular box
office hours and in
the lobby at the Marie
Osmond concert.
The winner will be
announced on Friday, December 22.

Looking for a
place to park?
No problem!
The Palace staff is frequently
asked, “Where can we park?”
Recently we sent our staff on an expedition of
nearby downtown parking lots that are available
during our shows. Here’s what we found -Palace parking lots (west and north) offer spaces
for 90 vehicles, City Hall and the Rec Center
provide for 120 cars, the County Building can
park 168, and the Nazarene Church offers 250
additional spaces. These lots are all within a
short walk of the theatre. This does not include
the street parking available along Orchard and
Center Streets as well. We hope this will help
you in your quest for a parking spot during your
next visit to the Palace.

The Palace Wurlitzer organ is featured on the
