Reviews of the Week
Little Owls:
Little Owls have been working very hard this week. Reception
have been writing numbers and singing alphabet songs, while KS1
have been counting in two’s, choosing the biggest number from a
pair and reading ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’. We have been
travelling back in time to the stone age where people lived very
differently and have designed our own stone circles!-Miss Foy
Eagle Owls:
It has been another busy week in Eagle Owls! We are learning
about the Author Michael Morpurgo in Literacy and the children
have enjoyed researching him and started to read our class novel
‘The Butterfly Lion’. We have also made an exciting start to our
Ancient Egypt and Forces topic in History and Science.
Christian Values
We will be continuing to focus on the
Christian Value of Friendship. In the
words of Jim Morrison: “A friend is
someone
who
gives
you total
freedom to be yourself”.
Harriet Winspear & Charlie
Duncombe were nominated by children
in their class for helping the new
children settle into school and who
are always ready to help.
Lunchtime Superstars!
Rudding Estate House Cup
Nidd (Green team) are the winning team this week. Well done to
all the children in Nidd team.
Our lunchtime superstars for this
week are: Ailsa Iona VolfordMcAuley & Josh Johnson.
Well done for showing outstanding
behaviour at lunchtime.
Harvest Service
On Wednesday 18th September at 9.30am
families are invited to our combined Harvest and Welcome
Service in St James & St Joseph’s Church, Follifoot. This is an
opportunity for us to celebrate as a community the true meaning
of harvest and for us to formally welcome all our new starters
into our wonderful, friendly and family orientated school. We
hope to see all of you there on Wednesday 18th.
Help Needed!
School is yet
again collecting Morrison’s Let’s Grow
vouchers please could you collect as
many as possible in order for us to
support Gardening Club. All vouchers
collected will enable
Gardening Club to select from a
catalogue, plants and equipment for
our school garden.
Thank you!
We would like to say a big thank you to Andrea Watkin who has
decided to hand over the role of Scholastic co-ordinator after
many years of raising funds for our school. Mrs Keyse has now
taken over this role and I am sure you will continue to support
and raise money to enhance our children’s education through the
enjoyment of reading.
We also say thank you and goodbye to Sue Hegan who worked at
our school as a Midday Supervisor, we would like to thank Mrs Hegan
for all her hard work whilst working at school.
MacMillan Coffee Morning
Stef Hinchcliffe has kindly organised and is running the annual MacMillan
Coffee Morning in the village hall in aid of Cancer Research. I am sure you will all agree this is a very worthwhile
cause and worthy charity. As a school we support the coffee morning by asking parents, carers and families to
donate buns and cakes and for the children on Friday 27th September to bring 50p to attend the coffee morning
and have a drink and a bun with members of our school and wider community. This is an open event and everyone
is invited and I am sure you will all support in one way and another.
