3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
PARISH STAFF
From
Fr. Burns
Dear St. Aloysius Parishioners:
It has been a humbling experience to return to serve you as the Administrator of St. Aloysius Parish due to the medical leave of Fr. Than. You have
been most affirming to me while expressing your sentiments for the good of
your Pastor Fr. Than. All our hearts and prayers go out to him and wish
him the best. When the shocking experience of Director of Liturgy and Music Ken Thevenet’s collapse at the 4:30 mass on December 27 happened, it
seemed almost too much to bear. Ken has improved so much so that he
was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, Jan 15, almost three weeks
after his admittance. He will be with family during his recovery and his
faithful and expert worship ministry has earned him all the time that he
needs to recover. God willing this will happen. As for myself, I am grateful
to God that I am able to help during this difficult time and pray that my
health remains good so I can carry out the role that Bishop Muench has
asked me to fulfill.
Since it has been three and a half years since my retirement from full time
pastoring, I have been recalling that during those years, whenever I left for
any time period for vacation or study, it usually took me a couple of days to
get back in the flow of the busy life of St. Aloysius. In particular, after returning from my 4 month sabbatical in 2008, I remember that it took me a
full month to “re-enter.” Now that it has been some 40 months since working full time, I know it will be slow to “re-enter.” I recognize that I am almost
18 years older since becoming your pastor and that I do not have the energy that I once possessed, so be patient with me as I seek to discover the
main areas that need my time and attention and also to discover the way to
manage this journey. The parish staff and the parish leaders that I have
met with so far have been most helpful and willing to do whatever will bring
St. Aloysius through this difficult time of transition. I would like to thank
them and everyone who has come forward in to supply the ministries that
are needed now at St. Aloysius.
I have been knowing Fr. Sanjay for quite some time now and have met with
him on a number of occasions even before my new role developed. He is a
good, kind, and truly gentle man and I am happy to work with him. He was
the first person that I visited after Bishop Muench’s call. At present he is at
home in India and will return on January 28 and I am fully confident he will
be a good person to do whatever the community asks him to do.
Please take to heart the invocations that I recommended to the congregation last weekend in my Sunday homilies that come from the morning prayers of the church. They are: surrender to God and He will do everything for
you;” and, “ Wait for the Lord to lead, then, follow in His way.” If we make
these two sayings our mantra then we can proceed with great confidence.

STEWARDSHIP OF OFFERING
RENEWAL
JANUARY 24/25, 2015
RETURN TO LIFE
Lenten Series for the Separated or Divorced
Faith! – a Gift to be Shared Through Stewardship
We are all called, through baptism, to follow in
Christ’s footsteps. God calls us to share our faith
through the use and sharing of the gifts and talents
He has given us through our three phases of stewardship: ministry, prayer, and offering. In the last
several months we have renewed or made commitments in the areas of ministry and prayer. Now we
must prayerfully consider the material blessings we
have received from God and commit to God a portion of what God has given us in the first place.
Please consider including your children when you
discern your commitment to stewardship. This is a
great opportunity for you to teach your children the
meaning of stewardship. We have placed children’s
envelopes at the entrances to the church. Please
use these envelopes to share your faith by showing
your children what it means to be grateful to God for
the things He has given us

During the next couple of weeks you should receive
your Stewardship of Offering packet in the mail,
along with the Aloysius Alive. Please review your
packet and letter from Fr. Burns. Also, please read
the stewardship articles in Aloysius Alive. Then, on
the weekend of January 31 and February 1, we will
have a special presentation about Stewardship of
Offering during all Masses (note that we will not have
a 5:30 p.m. Mass on Sunday because of the Super
Bowl). Our Stewardship of Offering Committee asks
you to prayerfully reflect on your life of stewardship,
especially in the area of offering. Commitment
weekend will take place on February 7 and 8,
2015. Commitment cards may be placed in the offertory baskets during Mass, or may be mailed to the
Parish office.

MOMNIPOTENT MOTHERS
Volunteer to watch the little ones
Would you like to participate in this mothers ministry
in a different way? We are looking for volunteers to
help watch the little children of the participating
mothers during the Momnipotent Mothers Prayer
Group sessions. Children are dropped off next door
in the Mimosa House for the hour and bring their
own toys and snacks. The children's ages range
from a few months to 3 years, and ideally we would
like to have 2-3 volunteers each session. Sign up
once or on a more regular basis by contacting
Louise Flavin ([email protected]). Playing with
the children is a great way to support this ministry in
an important and fun way, as many mothers would
not be able to participate otherwise.
