Qualifications 1.1 Degree qualified. 1.2 Post graduate education, with a relevant management or professional qualification. 1.3 Evidence of commitment to professional development as appropriate to different career contexts and stages. 2. Experience 2.1 Candidates should have knowledge and/or experience of the FE and/or HE sector that will equip him/her comprehensively to deal with the immediate challenges of being the Principal of Bradford College and enable an outstanding individual contribution to operational success and forward planning. 2.2 Candidates should have a successful track record gained in a senior role in, for example, a large further education college, a higher education institution, a training provider, multi academy trust, school or relevant other commercial organisation, and which shares similar values to Bradford College and operates in similar markets and at a commensurate level of scale and complexity. 2.3 It is expected that candidates will be able to describe their role in embedding and developing change and with reference or relevance to curriculum, teaching, learning and the achievement of academic and institutional success. 2.4 Experience of being accountable to and working alongside a committed and fully-engaged Governing Body. 2.5 Effective strategic stakeholder engagement, sustaining successful partnerships with local authorities, employers, local businesses, community engagement, academic institutions, professional bodies and government departments and agencies (within and outside of the UK). 2.6 Experience of establishing, motivating, developing a high performance culture, and managing the performance of an effective and highly professional staff. The ability to reach out to all staff, to break down the remoteness of strategic planning and convince each individual of the value and recognition of their contribution will be critical. 2.7 Experience of dealing and negotiating with professional bodies. 2.8 Experience of the Ofsted and QAA inspection processes and a well-developed understanding of the relevant qualification frameworks and accreditation 3. Skills, Knowledge and Ability 3.1 A strong understanding of the policy context for further and higher education, skills development and vocational education. 3.2 Proven ability to build, develop and lead a high performing Team who will drive improvements and deliver an outstanding curriculum, together with the ability to delegate and manage through others. 3.3 Knowledge of developments in learning technologies. 3.4 Knowledge and experience of working with Academies. 3.5 The ability to control resources, scrutinise finances, ensure value for money and transparency in the use of public money. 3.6 Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a proven ability to succeed in a target-driven and externally accountable environment. 3.7 Candidates will be financially astute and capable of overseeing multi-million pound budgets and resources. In the context of constrained public resources, candidates will be expected to be resourceful about operational discipline. 3.8 A track record of operating as the ambassador and public face of an organisation, undertaking a number of diverse external communication requirements and dealing with the media. 4. The successful candidate will be expected to live within 30 miles of College or 1 hour’s commute. The post holder will be expected to commit the hours and flexibility as required at different times.
