CREATING RESILIENCE
AND WELLNESS
Bari Berkowitz, MA, LLP, LLMFT
will help you reconnect with
your genuine self
KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
CREATING RESILIENCE AND WELLNESS
On our journeys, we find ourselves at a crisis point,
a crossroad, a time to make an important decision,
a start or end to a chapter in our lives. The desire to
release toxic relationships, self-defeating attitudes,
destructive behaviors, or negative coping mechanisms
challenges us to reflect and dig deep to find the
courage to shed what no longer serves us well in our
lives. Creating resilience on the paths we journey,
and reflecting on and reconnecting with our genuine
self is a gift we can create for ourselves. Learning
to let go is a step on the path to making the change
we desire. Enrich your journey as we learn the eight
characteristics of resiliency. The presentation will
include a 15-minute letting-go meditation.

MEMOIR AND CREATIVE WRITING
Joy Gaines-Friedler, Poet
At the conclusion of this workshop, you will have the
materials to create at least a dozen poems, short stories,
or other creative writing projects. We will do a memory
exercise, a “free-write,” and other creative exercises
that will spark your imagination as well as provide the
framework for metaphor and simile. You need not have
ever written a thing to enjoy this session, but if you
have, you will be given tools to go deeper or to create
more meaningful writing.
GET OUT OF YOUR MIND AND INTO YOUR LIFE
Julie Hamilton, ACSW, CAADC, PC
Have you ever dreamt of being able to put your
worrisome mind in a locker and leave it behind for a
few hours or overnight? Ever long to be able to sit down
and focus on a good book without getting completely
distracted by your thoughts? This workshop will
introduce you to a new empirically-based approach
of dealing with our minds that helps to increase the
blessings of our mind and lets go of the curse of being
caught up in thoughts. This will be an opportunity to
learn a variety of tools to let go of unwanted, unhelpful
thoughts, doubts, worries, and judgment that get in
our way of fully living our days.

CULTIVATING ASSERTIVENESS
Pam Micallef, MA, LLPC – Counselor OCC
Do you feel you often plow through situations, or perhaps
plant yourself, burying your perspectives and needs?
This workshop presents an opportunity to deepen understanding of ourselves and our potential to grow stronger
in: how we express ourselves and needs, set boundaries,
and say “yes or no” based upon our own desires.
FUNCTIONAL FREEDOM THROUGH FASCIAL FITNESS
Diane Urquhart, BCSI, LMT –
Myomassologist, Instructor, Irene’s Myomassology Institute
Though our health is mostly dependent upon our
nutrition, exercise, rest, and recreation, our positions
in life can really affect how we feel. Looking at how we
hold ourselves during our daily activities can influence
our immediate and long-term health. A serious, lighthearted look at how our bodies influence our health,
mood, and energy levels throughout our days. A few
movement activities aimed at improving function
will be presented and practiced as well.
SESSION II 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT –
TAKE CONTROL TO FEEL SECURE! Eudora Adolph, MBA & Certified Wealth Strategist –
AverTrust Wealth LLC
At heart, women crave financial security. Future
financial uncertainties cause emotional stress. Learn
how YOU can take control of your finances with
knowledge, planning, focus, and confidence. Women
make great money managers and even strong investors
and CAN create their own personal security at all life
stages. This workshop will give you specific tools and
a sense of empowerment for taking control of all your
money matters. We will discuss planning, investing,
retirement, divorce, helping elderly parents with
finances, and more. Overcoming financial stress IS
truly priceless and critical to achieving personal
wholeness as well as good health.
“I’M WORTH IT!”
VULNERABILITY: EXCRUCIATING OR EXQUISITE?
An interactive workshop on the relationship with
oneself, self-love, and forgiveness. The participant
will learn to identify their personal strengths, talents,
gifts, and worth. This workshop is for those interested
in making a personal and positive change in their life. Drawing from the pioneering work of Brené Brown
and her research on shame and vulnerability, we will
define vulnerability, acknowledge why it scares us, and
identify ways to use our vulnerability to strengthen our
compassion and connection with ourselves and others.
We will explore the question: “Is vulnerability truly
about courage?”
Tanya Martin, PsyD, LLP –
Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, Adjunct Faculty OCC
MINDFULNESS: A TOOL FOR RESILIENCE
Amy Tschirhart, MA LPC –

have a chance to experience them! In this workshop
we are going to build our resilience by practicing some
techniques that enhance our inner peace and happiness.
We will discuss the keys to being resilient and practice
some of the simple techniques that we can immediately
put into practice to start feeling better today. Our goal
is to raise awareness, practice techniques, and leave
feeling recharged.
