Where does God rank in that list? If He’s not first, you have some work to do. Putting God first in everything helps develop the attitude of ―I am grateful for the gifts God gave me‖ instead of ―I want more‖. For most people gratitude leads to generosity. Ph: 5462 2675 SCRIPTURE READINGS - Year B Readings for this weekend Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46 1Corinthians 10:31—11:1 Mark 1:40-45 Response: I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and you fill me with the joy of salvation Readings for next weekend Genesis 9:8-15 1Peter 3:18-22 Mark 1:12-15 in a Nutshell In ancient Israel, leprosy became a symbol in sin. The required quarantine isolated the unfortunate sufferer. In touching, and healing the leper, Jesus breaks social and religious taboos, revealing the relentlessness of God’s love. No matter what our sinfulness and isolation, God seeks us out and longs to heal us. FINANCE COUNCIL MEMBERS Brian Goodchild John & Noreen Gallagher Nathan Haley Zac MacDonald Lewis O’Donoghue Derek & Chris Pingel Adrian & Margaret Shepley MEETINGS Liturgy Meeting postponed until Wednesday 25th February at 7pm, Gatton Community Centre Pastoral Council Meeting Tuesday 24th February at 7pm, Gatton Community Centre Mass with Anointing Mass for the Sick will take place in our Parish on the 1st Thursday of each month in Gatton at 9am. Everyone will receive anointing. All welcome to attend PARISH NEWS and NOTICES Encountering Jesus in the Eucharist as we enter the Holy Season of Lent The Eucharist, (indeed all sacraments) is the sacrament of encounter. In the Eucharist, we encounter Jesus personally in His 'Real Presence'. He shares His life with us and makes us whole. He relates with us closely! Like the poor leper; in the Eucharist, we come to the author of life "unclean". We come to Him with our brokenness, we come to Him to be made clean, to be sanctified and to be restored to full fellowship. As the Holy Season of lent begins, we are reminded that "all have sinned", thus Jesus comes to heal us from all that hinders us from His relationship. He is here at this Holy season to show us His mercy, to lift us up and to deliver us from everything that makes us unclean, unworthy and hopelessly lost! We are therefore encouraged to make use of the opportunities which the forthcoming Holy Season will offer. God bless us all with His Divine Mercy. Amen.
