HISTORY
St. Francis de Sales
Our Heavenly Patron
SFS Academy is run by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS) of the South West
Province, India. The MSFS fathers have 170 years of experience and expertise in imparting
quality education all over the world. SFS Academy is a minority institution with a very secular
outlook. Students of all castes, religions, creeds and languages are admitted to be part of this
temple of learning. The school has been instituted in the year 1982 with the motto Knowledge,
Love, Service.
The School is named after St. Francis de Sales, the patron of the Missionaries of St. Francis de
Sales, who considered knowledge as the eighth sacrament. We believe that true education is
directed towards the formation of the human person in view of their ultimate goal in life and the
good of the society.
The school envisions to provide a centre of excellence for a holistic formation of the young who
are capable of both transforming themselves and of acting as catalysts of transformation in the
society so as to become epitomes of efficiency, in mastering their life-situations and in building
a progressive and secular nation.
In realizing this vision we are committed to the mission of imparting quality education with
professional skills to inculcate cultural and moral values, and to strengthen humanism.

The school visualizes a holistic society of compassionately human, spiritually enlightened,
intellectually awakened, professionally skilled, socially committed and culturally integrated persons
based on the values inspired by Christ and demonstrated by St Francis de Sales.
The school's mission is to provide a conducive atmosphere for intellectual development, to facilitate
conviction-based spiritual formation, to nurture a sense of the Divine and transcendence, to instill the
virtues of gentleness, compassion and optimism, to impart authentic leadership training, to instill
wholesome professional ethics, to encourage sports, games and work experience, to inculcate healthy
food habits, to promote environmental consciousness, to extend integral education to all, to foster a
caring and humane society meant to promote the marginalized, and thus equip the younger
generation with the requisite life skills to become catalysts of social transformation, votaries of
national integration, and ambassadors of universal brotherhood.

THE CAMPUS
SFS Academy is situated in the Garden city (Bengaluru) of India, in
the vicinity of the silicon valley of India on the Bengaluru-Hosur
highway. The School is situated in a healthy environs of greenery, of
flora and fauna. Whether-wise it is conducive to the best ways of
learning. SFS Academy has fine-looking and attractive sylvan
surroundings, unsullied fresh air, beautiful ambience and a
favourable climate conducive for rigorous academic pursuits.
THE FUN SCHOOL & THE NURSERY
SFS Academy has a separate Nursery Section located at its entrance with
state of the art facilities and well qualified faculty to its credit. Here the
talents, skills and the abilities of each student is identified, nurtured and
encouraged to reach greater heights. There is openness and room for
parents to participate in the welfare and growth of their wards. The
multisensory approach followed with the aid of multimedia to stimulate the
interest of the students helps them learn better.
LIBRARY
The intellectual caliber of students depends to a large
degree on the availability of infrastructure facilities at
the school. The school is equipped with a large library
well stocked with various books on all aspects of science
and technology, classic, modern and contemporary
works of literature, up-to-date books in career
counseling and personality development etc. The library
also has a collection of CDs of Encyclopedia, books on
environmental awareness, stories and inventions and
discoveries. We are also on the subscriber lists of several
leading journals and Academic weeklies. There are over
5,000 books on the shelves and these are issued to
students and teachers periodically.
COMPUTER LABS
Information and Communication Technology is an integral part
of the school’s curriculum. The computer Lab at the school
contain 54 computer terminals for students to acquire handson training in their operations. Internet connectivity is also
provided to the students, teachers and staff. Teachers assist
students in seeking out information, creating multimedia
content, collaborating on project work and presenting the
knowledge gathered from multiple sources.
SMART CLASSES
The provision of Smart Class has transformed the
way teachers teach and students learn in the school
with innovative and meaningful use of technology.
The school uses this facility based on CBSE syllabus
on all subjects where students learn difficult and
abstract curriculum concepts, watching highly
engaging visuals and animations. This makes
learning an enjoyable experience for students while
improving their overall academic performance in the
school. Smart clases have been introduced from preKG onwards so that adsorption is faster and
understanding easier
THE AUDIO VISUAL ROOM
The Audio visual room in the school is remarkably spacious, well
ventilated and techno proof. It is the best tool for making teaching
effective and the best dissemination of knowledge. The Audiovisual material in the school includes tape recorder, radio, movie,
projector etc. Activities like quiz, debates, declamation,
competitions, seminars and conferences are held in the Audio
visual room.
SCIENCE LAB
SFS houses a well equipped science lab for the students to
conduct experiments and to gain practical knowledge in
science. The lab is provided with state of the art equipments for
the pupils to pick up the finer aspects of the subjects and the
application of knowledge.
MEDICAL AID ROOM
Medical room of the school is well equipped with the required
medical equipments and has a Doctor as well as a trained
Nurse to deal with medical emergencies. Periodical medical
check-up is conducted for all the students and the school
employees. In case of accidental emergency, medical aid is
given to the child and if required is taken to the nearest
hospital for treatment and parents are immediately informed.
COUNSELLING CENTRE
Counselling at school is taken up by a trained professional
counsellor who engages in individual counseling and group
therapy. Counsellor will provide social and emotional
assessment to identify students' needs, plan interventions and
prevention programs as well as acts as a link between parents,
teachers and students which help in observing and assessing the
desired change in students. Psycho education programs will also
be undertaken by the counselor related to developmental,
societal and psychological issues.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
SFS believes in discovering the hidden talents of children.
Much stress is laid on co-curricular activities, which give
expression to the child's inborn abilities. Children are offered
wide range of co-curricular activities like yoga, music, dance,
karate, skating, debates and speech competitions, quiz,
drawing, sports, IT related activities, essay writing, science and
art exhibition, etc. Inter-class and inter-house competitions
are also encouraged on a regular basis
ART AND CRAFT
This is a creative activity in the school and is an integral part of the
curriculum. It helps students to develop their imagination and gives
them an opportunity to transform abstract ideas into something
concrete and encourages them to try new ideas and take risks.
Students get an opportunity to choose from a wide variety of artistic
activities like drawing, painting, sculpt and other craft related
activities.
MUSIC & DANCE
Music in school is a fun filled activity undertaken by trained tutors
for the students. It plays a very important role when it comes to the
development of students in terms of self-expression, selfawareness and interpersonal skills. They soothe and relax the
minds of students and at the same time educate and stimulate
their concentration and creativity.
THE HOUSE SYSTEM
In order to develop team spirit, co-operate effort and friendly rivalry, the school is divided into five houses namely Ruby, Coral, Sapphire
and Topaz. All the school activities including academics, games, sports and other curricular and co-curricular activities are conducted
on the inter-house basis.
SPORTS & GAMES
A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Physical fitness,
learning to conform to external norms, fairness in dealing
with the other and to discipline oneself is what takes to the
threshold of success. SFS Academy has always laid
emphasis on sports. The main focus is on Football,
Basketball, Volleyball and Throwball. The school has
facilities for cricket, karate, skating, etc.
SCHOOL GROUND
SFS School has been fortunate enough to build a vast school
ground for sporting events as well as for parking on special
occasions. The football ground measuring more than two
acres in area ensures the open space that is necessary for a
school. The basketball court too is a pukka structure. Rows
of trees surrounding the grounds provide cool shade to
sporting students.
SECURITY
SFS Academy strictly maintains the security of the students.

Visitors may be allowed to meet a student on an emergency,
subject to necessary verification.
TAEKWONDO
This form of Korean martial art, combines self-defense techniques
with sport and exercise. The school aims at equipping each child

The school owns and operates 20 buses to bring students
from far-off areas. These buses follow strict timings and
students are urged to abide by them.
