From the President…..
I am pleased to announce that we have monies to roll over again from 2014 into this year’s budget. For
transparency: On our profit and loss report for 2014, ESC reports $66,822.15. However, we have $30,000 in
Reserves, $5,000 in Emergencies, and $5,000 in Contingencies. We also pay out of this income, additional
monies for CPA, Attorney and associated costs for Jade property, additional costs for increased insurance
premiums and increase costs for utilities. On the positive, ESC has received higher income in the area of
transfers, and boat rentals. We are conserving water, saving ESC higher costs. We have also reduced our
maintenance costs. All in all we are financially stable, with NO increase in our quarterly assessments,
(maintenance fees). This is due to the continued efforts of our Board of Directors and the clubs and activities that
support ESC. Thanks Again
Other Notes . . . . .
1. Our Annual Meeting was informative, with information provided from Collier County Code Enforcement.
Continue to submit permits through the office for work being done on your home and parcel.
2. We are using less water, compared month to month, from last year.
3. Speeding continues to be an issue, both with shareholders/renters as well as outsiders. Collier County sheriff
has a hot line to report any concern with traffic. Their direct # is: 239-530-ZOOM or 239-530-9666. This number
is accessible 24 hours a day.
4. Reminder to all Shareholders on parking issues. (A) NO parking on the streets overnight. (B) Shareholders
MUST display reflective stickers on front and rear bumpers, driver’s side. (C) Renters MUST have Red and
White Stickers on front and rear bumpers, driver’s side. (D) Visitors MUST have VISITOR placard visible and
should be placed in back window, if impossible, place in front window visible from street. (E) PARKING is the
responsibility of all shareholders.
5. Starting the month of March 2015, the office will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
from 9:00 am till 1:00pm. Monday and Friday by appointment only.

CLUBHOUSE Report…....

A reminder to anyone posting notices on the Clubhouse entrance doors; please do not attach any
notices on the inside of the doors, due to the film that is on the inside of them for tinting purposes.
To all Clubs, Groups and Activities, the Board is striving to come up with the best solution for future
advertising of any upcoming events that you may want to make our park residents aware of.
I would like to thank the following men for their help with the construction of the storage building.
Jerry Ballard and his grandson Jared, Howard Loveless, Patrick Nolan, Denny Johnson, Greg McDougall
and anyone else that helped that I may have forgotten. (Again…thank you men for your help).
CHECKLIST WHEN LEAVING YOUR UNIT
In the next several weeks many of you will be returning to your northern location. It is very important that each
unit owner have a friend, neighbor or relative inspect your unit in your absence on a regular basis.
I have seen minor to major damages occur while the unit owner was absent and no one was listed to inspect
their unit. Please remember to sign out when leaving for the summer and include the name and telephone
number of your HOME WATCH person.
 Turn off the main water supply to your unit, leaving the water on to your outside faucet.
 Set your A/C and humidistat according to the instructions.
 Lock all windows and doors.
 Remove furniture, plants, etc. from outside and store in your unit or storage room.
 Shut and lock hurricane shutters.
 Empty your refrigerator.
 Remove all perishable items including open cereal boxes.
 Unplug or turn off the breaker to your hot water heater and other major appliances. It is not recommended
to turn off your refrigerator.
 Disconnect the television cable and electrical cables from your television, stereo, telephone and computer.
 Tell your home watcher if they turn on the water be sure to turn it off before they leave.
 Disconnect phone service and cable.
 Cancel all newspapers.
 Forward your mail, allowing 7 to 10 days.
 Make arrangements for lawn care, weed removal and the removal of fruit from your trees.
 Secure all items at your home weighing 100 pounds or less. Also, all boats and trailers must be secured.
 Please check your exterior sheds and verify that the tie downs are adequate for Hurricane Season.

Anonymous letter to the Editor…..
It would be nice if people that are visiting someone would park in front of the house that they
are visiting and not in front of the next door neighbors, because then when the next door
neighbor has company, their company has to park either in front of their driveway or in front
of someone else’s house which is not fair! It would be nice if there was some type of
statement put into the monthly newsletter…..Thank You.
ESC Country/Rock Music Show
We want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who attended the ESC Country/
Rock music show. You made it enjoyable for all of the entertainers and
contributed towards the new curtains and some needed musical items.
Thank you also to all who participated in presenting an excellent evening of entertainment.
It is remarkable that our little park has such an outstanding array of talent.
Special thanks to all the background helpers without whose help the show would never
happen. We hope many of you will volunteer to join in presenting “Sentimental Melodies”,
a musical trip down memory lane, on Saturday, March 28th.

So, did you open another Bank Account for all your Yard Sale money? Oh, probably not
but sure hope you made enough money from "your unwanted treasures" so others can
" treasure" them.
Next year our ESC Yard Sale will take place one week later so it doesn’t conflict with
Valentine’s Day weekend. And maybe, just maybe it will be a tad bit warmer than this year.
Brrrrrrr it was chilly!!!! But rain would have been worse so hurrah for the sun!!!!
Hope everybody had fun selling, buying and seeing all their neighbors.

February 2015 International Ladies Luncheon

I would like to thank all the ladies who attended and brought a dish to share to the February Ladies Luncheon. A
special thank you to my committee: Kilaine, Chris, Dawn, Sue, Jane and Pam. Also to the ladies who helped with name
tags, set up, kitchen, clean up and Jane who entertained us and to John Zullo for providing the CD's for our background
music. Hope I didn't forget anyone. A good time was had by all. Hope to see you at the March Luncheon.
Breakfasts and Spaghetti Dinner….
Our spaghetti dinner was a great success! We appreciate your support and
positive feedback. A special Thank You to the wonderful group who
volunteer to help during the season.
We thank you as a Community who supports our breakfasts and dinner. Because of your support,
last year we gave a sizeable donation to the pool patio, donated to the Christmas decorations, storage
at the Maintenance Building and the Sunshine Club. This year, we have donated a new freezer to our
Clubhouse kitchen, donated to Pickleball and to the Sunshine Club. Every donation is possible
because our Community supports the activities of all clubs and organizations. Thank you for your

2015 Variety Show…..

What an extraordinary seven weeks this has been!
Our Variety show began shaping up early-on with enthusiastic participants.
We’ve all enjoyed the rehearsals, critiques, fantastic teamwork, camaraderie
and long, long hours of planning. Many days working well into the night,
meeting deadlines, to bring a show to our stage with which we were all proud
to be involved.
We have received so, so many lovely compliments regarding the show.
Thank you so much for your support and comments. We received numerous
compliments from MOST ALL of those residing in our park who attended the show, as well as from so many
outside of ESC. The support has been overwhelming!
All of us from the Variety Show; Joan Roy, Laura Goodrich (both Assistant Producers) and myself, the
program support staff and the entire cast would like to thank YOU, the residents of the ESC Community, for
helping us to make this production one to be proud of…Thank You for your spirited support!

THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT 2015
That’s Entertainment will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 5:00 pm to
10:00 pm. Hopefully, many of you have your group, ideas, and costumes ready.
Tickets and table selection will be available at the clubhouse on TUESDAY,
MARCH 3 from 11:00 a.m. to Noon. Tickets are $15.00 per person. You may send
a representative from your group to purchase tickets for everyone in your group, or
you may choose to come individually.
To purchase tickets after March 3, please contact Deb Toms at 302-463-1205. If you aren’t involved in a group
with a theme and costumes, you are still welcome to enjoy this fun evening of dining, skits, music, and dancing.
Southern Accents will be catering a dinner of chicken and ham, along with sides and with cheesecake for dessert.
Music will be provided by Multi-Park Band beginning at 8:00 p.m. If you wish to come just for the dance at 8:00
p.m., tickets are $5.00 per person.
For groups wishing to rehearse prior to Saturday evening, rehearsal will be Tuesday, March 10 at 4:00 p.m. If
you need video or musical assistance, contact Harry Sharp at [email protected] or phone him at
239-775-1121. Groups wishing to decorate their tables may do so on Saturday, March 14 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
Festivities will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. with Happy Hour. Please BYOB and glasses. The costume
promenade will be at 5:15. Skits, People’s Choice voting and awards will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
The sit-down dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. and the music will begin at 8:00 p.m.

Belly Dancing/Hula for Beginners
We will meet Saturdays from 2:00-3:00 pm
in the Clubhouse Library
We will stretch for at least 15 minutes before learning the basic steps. The Arabic Music is wonderful. Although we
will not “vibrate”, we will learn the shimmy, hip lifts, the mia and figure eights. We will exercise the arms with “snake
arms” and the use of scarves. We will choreograph some simple dances using these steps.
Hula dancing tells a story with the use of hand movements. We will learn about 8 hand movements. The footsteps are
simple and graceful. Hula dancing has been around since the 5th Century AD.
Wear t-shirts, shorts/capris. I have a few extra belly dance belts. They are much cheaper thru the internet than dance
supply stores. No one needs to buy anything.

FISH/BOAT CLUB…..

Our meeting was held on February 12, 2015 with 60 members attending. Capt. Turner spoke
about offshore and near shore fishing, tackle and bait. Great information for all…. A question and
answer period followed.
Our Ice Cream Social was a great event once again. Ed and Colleen Gregorich organized the
event with 180 attending. They "Thank" all who donated cookies....they were delicious!!!!
Many thanks to all who put their time and efforts into making this Ice Cream Social a success.
The first scheduled date for the Fishing Derby had to be cancelled because of high winds. All participants were called
and were told of the new date of Thursday, March 5th with an alternate date of Friday, March 6th, 2015. The Derby is
still before the Awards Banquet and the winners will be announced at the Banquet.
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 12th, at 4:00 pm and the Catered Dinner by Southern Accents
being served at 5:30 pm; followed by our Fishing Derby Awards for all members.
Attention Fish/Boat Club members..........if you have a guest(s) attending with you, each guest dinner will be $14.00
payable in cash only to Lynn Cone at 17 Aquamarine by March 6, 2015....no later !!!! This will be our last meeting of
the season.

Greetings and Happy New Year 2015, may you all be Healthy and Happy. The Sunshine Club sent many
Get Well cards and 14 Memorials in 2014.
For any new resident in ESC, let me introduce you to the ESC Sunshine Club. This is all volunteer time
and money. Loy and I manage the mailing of cards and memorial money. We send cards to the sick or a
memorial of $50.00 in case of a death of an ESC member. You must help us by letting us know when a
card is needed or a death has occurred.
As our last fund drive was in January 2009, we are again asking for donations as our funds are getting
low.
The Clubs have been very supporting in the past with their donations. We want to thank you all for helping us with this great cause. Donations may be given to either Loy or me at any time. Thank you…

The Committee is working with the Board to refurbish the grass on the traffic circle, since
most of it is dead grass. They will continue to check areas for dead plants and take care of the
annuals planted. They thank the owners that have planted palm trees and encourage the
planting with at least one tree in each yard.
The Annual Award for Most Improved Yard was presented to Dale and Jane Kiker at 52 Turquiose.
The next meeting will be March 9th at 9:00 am, new members are always welcome.

make sure we are in compliance with the state regulation. If the state questions us we could be shut
down for not obeying the Florida laws.

Why do we Have Daylight Savings Time?
Even though we gained an hour in the morning, awaking to a sunny sky.
It will be dark before dinnertime. So why, again, do we do this?
To some degree, we may have Benjamin Franklin to thank.
QUIZ: What Do You Know about Daylight Savings Time?
Franklin, who penned the proverb "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man
healthy, wealthy and wise," was among the first to suggest the idea. In a 1784 essay he wrote that
adjusting the clocks in the spring could be a good way to save on candles.
The practice of changing the clocks has had a somewhat bumpy history in the United States.
It was first established in 1918, but then repealed a year later. During World War II, the
country again took up the practice to conserve energy from 1942 to 1945.
ANALYSIS: Is Daylight Savings Time Bad for Your Heart?
In 1966 the United States officially adopted the Uniform Time Act of 1966, which outlined
Daylight Saving Time to begin on the last Sunday of April and end on the last Sunday in October.
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandated a change to the observed dates so now DST begins at
2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March and ends at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November.
Incidentally, states do not have to comply with the act and, in fact, two states, Arizona and
Hawaii, do not.
HOW STUFF WORKS: How Daylight Savings Time Works
So do we really economize, as Benjamin Franklin said we would, by adjusting our clocks?
It appears, in our modern world, not really.
Although a U.S. Department of Transportation study in the 1970s found that daylight saving trimmed electricity usage by about 1 percent, later studies have shown that the savings is offset by air conditioners
running in warmer climates.
It may not all be for naught, however. Another study, performed in 2007 by the RAND Corporation found
that the increase in daylight in spring led to a roughly 10 percent drop in vehicular crashes.
