As I mentioned last weekend, I will be in the confessional a considerable amount of time this Lent like usual. Please take the time this Lent to make a good examination of conscience and a good Confession. Usually when we go to Confession, we are thinking of ourselves. We think about our sins, being forgiven of them, receiving the graces to resist those sins in the future (graces which are particular to Confession and cannot be gained anywhere else). But have we considered how Confession praises God? This is the first purpose of all the Sacraments including Confession. When we confess our sins and seek forgiveness, we allow God to be God for us. We allow him to do the good, creative work in us that only God can do. We allow him to save us, to love us, to make us better by healing us. Allow God to do the work he so desires to do within us this Lent through the Sacrament of Confession. No one ever regrets confessing; there are those who regret never confessing. Attached to this bulletin is an examination of conscience to help you consider where you need God’s healing grace in your life. Wonderful things are possible through this Sacrament. - Fr.
