Just a quick reminder that we are closed tomorrow. Our teaching staff are off to have a look at schools and will be coming back to KNS next week with many new ideas and photos we are sure. Modern Learning Environments- What’s Up @ KNS with our build?
Danielle, Kirsten, Nigel Dong (our architect) and I have just returned from touring schools in Sydney over the past three days. We have come back inspired and full of some innovative ideas to share with you at our upcoming consultation on the 22nd April. It’s set for that evening in the school hall from 7pm onwards. We toured a mix of state primary and independent schools throughout Sydney and it was very enlightening to see what innovative and creative spaces were being developed. When we start hearing of modern learning environments that are being developed at schools around New Zealand, we do hear a lot of myths that surround them. We don’t particularly like the term “MLE modern learning environments”. We prefer to use the term, enhancing learning spaces. We at KNS believe strongly in what we do and have a well founded pedagogy that really does make a difference. I have seen in our observations, school environments changing to meet the requirements of the diverse learner and workplace. The team of students we have been consulting with around the development have been insightful. What has been very apparent is the need to develop creative use of space around KNS. We have seen so many great ideas and are really looking forward to sharing them with you. Gamelan Performance
1 5 March 2015 On Wednesday 11 March at 11am the school will be hosting an ensemble called Mekar Bhuana. Mekar Bhuana plays gamelan in the Balinese style accompanied by traditional dancers. We still love more supplies of muesli bars to replenish our Civil Defence supplies. In the case of an emergency these are ideal as a food source that is nutritious and easy to distribute. We still have tins from 2014 that we can reuse for this year. Please send your box of muesli bars to the office as soon as possible. Disco to Fundraise for School Camp
Next Thursday 12 March we are hosting a KNS school disco in the school hall with the profits going towards the Upper and Senior syndicate camp funds. Tickets for the disco are $5 and can be purchased from the school office before or after school. Students will also come around to classes and also collect tickets. The disco is open to all students in Years 18 at the following times: Junior and Lower Middle Syndicates: 4pm5:30pm Then the hall will be cleaned up and the disco reset. Parents will need to collect the children from the hall. Upper Middle Syndicate 6 pm to 7.30 pm Senior Syndicate 6 pm to 8.00 pm Students from other schools are also welcome to attend if your children have friends who go to neighbouring schools. The usual array of glow products and refreshments will be available. All upper middle and senior students need to be collected from the hall at the conclusion of the disco. If you want your child to walk home, please supply a written note. We will not be releasing children to walk home without written parent consent. Many staff will also be attending the disco and will be on hand to help if necessary. ERUA & EL Rancho Camps for Year 5-8

Kea Scouts

who wear glasses and /or are under professional care and have regular checks, will not require a vision check by our service.
