CHAIRMANS NOTES
As I am taking over Tony Lawrence’s big chair for 2015, I would
like to say thank you to him for the sterling work he has done for
our club over the years. A major player in our early shows that
turned into the War & Peace show. The organiser of many
French trips to Bethune and later to Souchez. A fine cool mind
that has steered the Committee and the Board to where it is now.
Hopefully I can carry on his duties with the same concern and
enthusiasm that he had. I am not taking the Chairman's position
to try and change the club, rather to keep it rolling along just the
way it is and improve things where I can a little. I would like to
see bigger turnouts at club meetings and the AGM, the biggest
and most important meeting any club has.

COMBINED OPS CHATTER
We have now received confirmation of the flying displays this year. You would think that after last year’s spectacular of two Avro Lancaster
Bombers how could we possibly match that, well we might just have done so!! So far we have received confirmation for:

A couple of new introductions for this year’s show, working with our new Bar provider it has been decided that a Bar facility will be placed
midfield together with the catering units by the vets house, so for those camping you will not have as far to walk for your midday drinkies. The
bar will only be open during show public times so to concentrate the bar with the entertainment in the main bar in the evenings. If that wasn’t
enough there will be a mobile basic provisions van going around the fields about 7-7.30 am each day. This will be based near the main beer
tent,
We’re still looking for volunteers, so if you feel like offering a few hours over the Period from Wednesday 12th to Monday 17th to help with the
setting up, running ,or packing up the please drop us an email at [email protected] letting us know which area of the show you would like
to be involved with.

WEALD AREA REPORT
Our area monthly meetings continue to be very well supported
by the membership.
We recently presented a cheque for £320.00 to Combat Stress
- monies raised by IMPS members after the raffle of a print
donated by Janet and Paul Davies - the cheque was presented
to Stuart Taylor - one of our guest speakers - an Iraq veteran
who had previously talked about his military career and
subsequent assistance from Combat Stress.
Our St Georges Day 'drive out' is on Sunday 26th April followed
by lemonade and lunch - all welcome - Locally we have two
70th VE Day events - The Spitfire Cafe' event on 2nd May and
The Kings Arms PH event Sat. 9th May - all m/v's welcome.
The Biggin Hill Airshow - 'Festival of Flight' is on Sat. 13th June
- Allan Ede is dealing with entries for me this year.

GLENTWORTH
The June meeting at Dartford is to be a quiz night. It is a year since the
clubs Tour of Normandy, so the quiz will have a “Normandy” theme.
Get your thinking caps on and brush up on your knowledge!
James Baxter has received a request from the government to supply
some WW2 vehicles for a special event commemorating the 70th
Anniversary of VE Day in London on May 8th to 10th. They only want a
limited number of specific vehicles. Contact James Baxter now if you
think you would be available.

Port en Bessin, Normandy, France. Following on from last year’s very successful parade and display we are hoping to arrange another display
to honour the 47 Royal Marine Commando who liberated the town in 1944.
We are looking for around 50 British and Commonwealth Vehicles and motorcycles, and British re-enactors to provide a static display on the

Area Reports:Nick cowls reported, that he would like to thank the outgoing board members for their years of service and dedication
to the club. He also thanked the other board members for their service for many years... Monthly meeting are still well
supported, and would like to thank them for their continued support in what they do locally. They will hold a St
Georges day drive out on Sun 26th April, finishing at the Kings Head PH for lunch. On Sat 13th June they will be in
attendance at the Biggin Hill air show. There will be a VE day celebration at the Kings Head on 9th May. There will be
drive out to London on Sun 10th in the morning. All welcome. They are supporting the Biggin Hill Spitfire café with a
VE day event on the 2nd May. They have received a letter of thanks from the Combat Stress charity for a donation of
£320. Raised by raffle of a limited edition print.
Paul Gurr reported that there will be quite a few events in Surrey, starting with a St Georges day run starting at the
café at Redhill Airport. Leaving at 10 am it will end at the car park at Newlands corner near Guildford. The Blindley
heath show on May 3rd-4th. Always well attended. The Cowpie Rally on Sun 10th at the Blue Anchor farm site is also
an interesting event with only a few MV’s there last year. Tinkers Park is a long established steam show at Hadlow
Down on May 30 – 31st.
Moving on to June. The area is supporting the Air Aid Ball at Redhill airfield on the 20th in support of the Surrey Air
Ambulance. It was well supported 6 years ago by the area to provide some colour to the event.
On Sunday 21st there will be a WW2 Heritage day at Headly Heath where PRE 1945 vehicles are requested. On Sat
27th there will be an Armed Forces day in Guildford. We are waiting confirmation to see if they need vehicles.
Unfortunately our regular main event at the Lingfield Steam show, will not be on this year. As an alternative we have
arranged to hold a Surrey Area rally at our meeting place at Kenley Aerodrome on 1st- 2nd August. Details will be
available soon.
Graham Rosser announced that there rally will be held at Mustards Farm on the 20th – 21st of June.
There were no other area secretary’s at the meeting.
AOB. Tony reported that he had received a letter from an insurance company offering cover for drivers from the age
of 17. Details in the newsletter.
The meeting closed at 8.30 to make way for the clubs AGM. Where Tony, Alice and the absent Alan Ede, stood down
from the board.
The raffle was held after the AGM finished.

MINUTES OF THE APRIL 2015 IMPS AGM AT THE GLENTWORTH .
Meeting started 8.45.
Present: - A Lawrence, A Bullock, A Neal, J Baxter, P Gurr, J Gosling, G Rosser. N Cowles, A Partridge.
Apologies: - J Marshall, J Shopland, D King, A Ede, Tim Hewitt
Minutes of 2014 AGM. Agreed and signed by A Lawrence.
Treasurer: - A Bullock gave her report for the last year and it was accepted by the club.
Chairman’s address: - A Lawrence gave his report for the last year. (a copy is in Imprint)
The current board stands down and A Partridge as our Ltd; Company secretary takes over. He offers the changes of new
members who are to take on the main board positions, and any new resolutions.
Andy Neal will move from club secretary to Chairman.
Nick Cowles as Weald area secretary and to become Vice Chairman.
Paul Gurr as Surrey area secretary and to become Club Secretary.
James Gosling to be the Clubs Treasurer.
All these nominations were accepted by the club, and those positions are now filled.
There were three small resolutions concerning the changes in the board and were also accepted.
The AGM closed at 9.05.
James Baxter as club President thanked the outgoing board members for all their hard work in running the club. He also
welcomed the Incoming members to the board.
Andy Neal as new Chairman thanked the outgoing members and made a small speech to the members about assuming his
duties to the club.
IMPS INFO
I have been in with various brokers in regard to HISTORIC MILITARY cover for Family members. AGE 17 to 25, where previously no
insurance company would consider that, and as a result there were no new members ( OR YOUNG blood coming into the hobby) in the
younger age group as they could not drive ANY historic Military Vehicle until age 25 (sometimes 30) Including the Jeeps even though they
were large car owners and drivers.
However, we now have a (new) fresh broker willing to submit and attain insurance for young PROVEN family members with supervision,
training, in company with, OR accompanied by family adults. Each submission would be on a case by case basis. But now quite attainable.
This will be brought up (mentioned) at the A.G.M. and (as well) could you insert this exiting information into the club magazine next issue.
This will definitely promote refresh and enhance the hobby, If proving, mature members supervise instruct, and or train their younger family
members wishing to enjoin the experience.
It is up to ALL of us wishing to have this opportunity for our younger members to enjoin the hobby in total, to see that the driving, respect, and
due care be taken to ensure this opportunity is not wasted or withdrawn.
Criteria could be, Members of a recognised club A full licence, accident, AND incident free driving experience. Monitored by the older family
members as this is a real chance to enhance the hobby, already fully employed and enjoyed elsewhere within the European Union already.

ULTRA LOW EMISSIONS ZONE 2020
The Mayor of London’s office recently issued the below release (extract; for full release see http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-lowemission-zone?cid=ultra-low-emission-zone), which is good news for ‘Historic’ vehicle owners.
‘Today the Mayor confirmed the introduction of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), which will launch in central London in 2020. This new
scheme will significantly improve air quality across the Capital and so improve the health of Londoners.
After considering the feedback from the consultation, the Mayor confirmed the ULEZ will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the same
area as the current Congestion Charging zone (CCZ) from 7 September 2020. All cars, motorcycles, vans, minibuses and heavy vehicles will
need to meet emission standards (ULEZ standards) or pay an additional daily charge to travel within the zone. For the purposes of the ULEZ
standards, we have aligned our definition of an historic vehicle with the Government’s so that all vehicles with a ‘historic’ vehicle tax class will
be exempt.’
The Dig for Victory Show is a 1940's themed family festival being held just outside Bristol in June. "We will bring
history alive and the generations together with a sense of nostalgia and pride - to learn, remember and have fun".
The event is run entirely by volunteers through a not-for-profit organisation and supports three charities this year
SSAFA, Royal Voluntary Service & Springboard. Come and celebrate the 'Best of British' and life in the 40s with reenactors demonstrating what life was like in wartime Britain, an exhibition of over 200 original restored wartime
vehicles including the iconic Sherman tank, a Dakota fly past, make do and mend, live music including The Military
Wives Choir, dance lessons, historical speakers including BBC historian James Holland, vintage stalls, farmyard
animals, campsite, Saturday night Victory Dance, a fantastic children's trail and much more!

We have been asked by the show organisers to provide displays of our vehicles in two areas:
1. A 1940s village themed area. A maximum of 10 good WW2 British/Commonwealth vehicles (military
or civilian) with occupants in appropriate period dress / uniform.
2. As in previous years, a general display of up to 40 military vehicles, from WW2 to current.

We are limited on numbers and there is bound to be a good response so it will be a first come – first
served basis, and I apologise in advance if you are not fortunate. Please only enter if you are sure of
coming......whatever the weather. All vehicles MUST be on site and parked before 08.30, as public gates
will be open from about 09.00, and our vehicles are to remain in situ until the end of flying displays at
17.30 approx.
Entry Donation: A ‘voluntary’ £10 charity donation is required for each vehicle entry, which this
year will be The RAF Benevolent Fund. Payment to accompany your entry with cheques made
payable to ‘IMPS Ltd’.
I confirm my participating vehicle will be appropriately insured, in a roadworthy condition, and comply
with current vehicle legislation on the day of this event.
