Community Engagement Manager
Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s (LCCC) vision is to become the leading non-International
cricket club in the country by 2020. To achieve this, our focus will be to provide the highest
standards of excellence at all levels of cricket from the first class game to the communities that
we serve. To deliver this, the LCCC and the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Board have merged
under the auspices of Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket. The Community Engagement Manager
will play a strategic role in engaging, uniting and developing sustainable impact across the vast
South Asian communities across the city.
Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised
using their own initiative. You will be a self-starter with energy and enthusiasm together with
good administration and organisational skills.

Job Purpose:
To inspire and support the South Asian communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to
choose and enjoy a lifelong involvement in cricket.
To establish and build strong relationships with the wider South Asian community to
understand what the community requires from cricket from both a playing and spectating
perspective. Working with the recreational game to develop opportunities to play, coach and
volunteer as well as strengthening interest in supporting the professional game.
To develop an activity programme for community groups and faith centres that can be
delivered by local coaches to increase involvement in cricket at all levels by male and female
participants.
Understanding the work being carried out in the recreational game in cricket clubs and schools
to identify where community activity can be aligned.
Coordinate the promotion of opportunities through the local South Asian media outlets.
Principal accountabilities & objectives
Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to the following;






Grow knowledge of South Asian community groups, faith centres and other relevant
organisations to broaden the communities we work with and support
Develop a community programme with clear objectives and targets aligned with the
Business Plan and South Asian Community Programme
Maximise partner relationships to improve the exposure and image of cricket locally
Fully utilise the professional staff (including players and coaches) in a structured and
effective programme
Support and develop marketing and communication to the South Asian community that
drives positive awareness and interest of the programme
Developing opportunities to significantly increase player participation and retention at
all levels within the key community groups





Through delivery support from Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket the role will drive an
increase in the South Asian community utilising sporting facilities in Leicester
Strengthen relationships and partnerships with City Council officers and local councillors
to drive further development of activities that address issues of social wellbeing and
inequalities amongst the South Asian community
Work with the Club team to market and support promotional offers
To work alongside the club commercial team to develop community sponsorship
proposals
To promote the Club and its facilities to the wider community
Conditions of employment
Location: Leicester
Salary range: £22,000
Package: Mobile Phone allowance, Travel Expenses to and from Grace Road
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (regular evenings & some weekends)

Ability to engage with community figures and leaders and develop relationships (Essential)
Experience developing strategies to increase delivery based on customer insight
Proven experience working within a community environment (Essential)
Understanding the needs of the South Asian community
An understanding of cricket (or sport) in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
Experience of delivering community programmes
Experience of marketing activities and promoting opportunities

Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (Essential)
Good team player with a flexible approach (Essential)
Motivated, enthusiastic attitude and able to work effectively on own initiative to make a difference

Structured and effective planner with the ability to report and update partners accurately (Essential)
