Hello Altamont Families,
*CAASPP TESTING- This is a reminder that CAASPP Testing at Altamont will begin next Monday, April 20 th. Please be sure to review the
testing schedule and the practice tips that were sent out previously. Alsoand practice with your student to make sure they are prepared to do well
on tests! These tests are replacing the STAR tests and they measure overall student performance in the content areas of English Language Arts,
Math, and Science for our 5th and 8th graders. The results are important as they determine our overall school ranking statewide. Good performances
by our students will really help to put our school on the map!
*Students of the Month -. Our student of the month assembly for April recognized students for the C – Creativity! We heard some wonderful
things about the creative abilities of these amazing students from their awesome teachers! They are as follows –*TK- Armaz Griffin Dunn and

*Science Olympiad – On March 28th our Junior Science Olympiad Team(3rd-6th Grade) competed in the
county competition and placed 8th! They picked up 13 medals and placed in 18 events. The following,
awesome students helped to bring home the very 1 st trophy in Altamont’s history!

Attention All LUSD Volunteers!
This is a reminder that the volunteer policy effective date was extended through February 1, 2015.
All volunteers must complete and have an application on file. Here are the steps to follow:
Volunteers may pick up the Volunteer forms from each School Office or print from our Website.
Complete form, attach proof of negative TB test and submit to the School Office.
School Office then reviews and approves forms, sending them to Human Resources.
Human Resources contacts Volunteers to schedule a time to meet with them.
At meeting, Volunteer’s driver’s license is scanned into the HERO system and fingerprint paperwork is provided.
Volunteer may get fingerprinted at any DOJ approved location and fingerprint location sends results electronically to LUSD.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact your child’s school office.

When a student is absent parents are required to phone the school attendance line at 836-7241 and notify the school of
the reason the child is absent. Please leave the following information when calling:
 Students' Name
 Date of Absence
 Grade Level and Teachers Name
 Reason for absence
 Name and relationship of person calling
If you are unable to call, please send a note with your child the day they return to school, stating the above information.

Attention Families in the Lammersville Unified School District:
We are currently accepting pre-registration of all new students for the 2015-2016 school year
online. If you have a transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, high school senior, or
any\student new to the Lammersville Unified School District, please ensure to register your
child as soon as possible. We would like to properly account for all students that reside in the
Lammersville School District boundaries to plan for classes accordingly. Please try to get the
word out to as many neighbors, friends, or family members.
We accept pre-registrations online to help you proceed through this process from home.

If your child is already attending schools in LUSD, no action is necessary.
After March 1, 2015, the supporting documents to the pre-registration will be accepted
at the school site offices. Please do not submit any registration paperwork to the school
site before this date.
Paper registration will be available at a later date – TBA.

Hello Altamont Families!
Tonight is Extreme Science Night! Join us at 5:30 for a fun filled family night featuring Xtreme Science
Magic!! Admission is FREE! Concessions will be sold by our 5th Grade parents for Science Camp.
Saturday, May 2nd is our Mother/Daughter Tea. Come dressed in your fanciest attire and enjoy afternoon
tea. Tea service will begin at 2:00, presale tickets will be going home soon!
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming!! Mark your calendars: May 4th thru 8th.
Teachers give us so much. And though we know we can’t ever thank them enough, we can take a moment
during National Teacher Week to share our appreciation for the special educators in our lives! And last, but not
least.... THANK YOU to our 2 cats in the hat -- Mr. Yeager & Mrs. Busuttil!!!
We are still collecting Box Tops! Don't forget to turn yours in to your teacher and your class could be the next
Box Top Champion!
