The Archbishop’s Palace Southwell a unique venue for all occasions A hidden gem in the heart of Nottinghamshire Steeped in history and romance, the Archbishop’s Palace (next to Southwell Minster) is the perfect setting for wedding receptions, parties, concerts and conferences. First mentioned in the Domesday Book, the Archbishop’s Palace hosted many of the early Kings of england; tudor Statesman Cardinal wolsey lived here after failing to secure henry VIII’s divorce from Catherine of Aragon; and, during the english Civil war, Charles I used the medieval State Chamber as a meeting room following his arrest. the spectacular State Chamber can accommodate 100 dining guests whilst the Palace gardens are a particular delight and provide space for marquees for up to 500 people.
