Board of Education Student Ambassador Selection process Responsibilities Participation The Board of Education will annually appoint one Batavia High School Student to serve a two (2) year term as a student ambassador. The Student Ambassadors selection process shall be: 1. Open application each May 2. Application will be review and recommended by faculty 3. Finalists will be interviewed by 2 Board members 4. Recommendation will be made to the full Board in June of each year The Student Ambassadors shall be responsible to: 1. Attend all regular Board meetings 2. Meet with a variety of student groups and students in order to have broad understanding of the students' interests and needs. 3. Represent all students. 4. Communicate a student viewpoint on issues before the Board. 5. Answer questions and concerns of the Board. 6. Review student generated discussion items with his/her Building Principal prior to each Board meeting. The process for Student Ambassadors' participation shall be as follows: 1. Each Student Ambassador shall receive Board meeting packets on the same schedule as Board members. The packet shall not include any closed session materials. 2. The Student Ambassadors' report shall be on Board meeting agenda with the report to involve interaction with members of the Board of Education. 3. Student Ambassadors may comment on a specific item on the Board Agenda at the time the item is being discussed. 4. Student Ambassadors shall not comment on individual employees, officials, or agents of the District. 5. Student Ambassadors shall not vote.
