TractionBack® is a new and patented innovation from Milliken Research for installing Milliken modular carpet tile without the use of wet adhesives, floor sealers or primers. TractionBack® is a high-friction coating applied to the carpet tile backing. It prevents lateral movement of the carpet tile while allowing tiles to be easily lifted for underfloor access or replacement. TractionBack® has been installed in numerous facilities with varying flooring substrates and traffic levels. In all cases, the performance has been exceptional with no movement under wheeled traffic or at transition points. The use of manufacturer-applied adhesive systems has expanded over the past few years. These systems are marketed as “peel and stick” dry adhesive offerings from several manufacturers. The chemistries and processes for achieving these “dry adhesive” systems are based upon the application of an adhesive to the carpet tile backing and a removable polyethylene film to protect the adhesive until the carpet is installed. TractionBack® is a superior solution compared to “peel and stick” systems: Under most situations, there is no need for the floor to be primed or sealed. The Milliken Lifetime Floor Compatibility Warranty applies to TractionBack®. TractionBack® is more cost effective: o No adhesives, primers or sealers to apply, and no downtime waiting for these to dry. o No labor for removal and disposal of polyethylene film used with “peel and stick” systems. TractionBack® is more environmentally responsible. o Less raw materials and chemicals compared to “peel and stick” products. o Eliminates the waste created by the polyethylene film removed at the installation site. o Off-gassing and resultant VOCs are non-detectable with TractionBack®. Installation productivity is improved compared to traditional or “peel and stick” methods. The lateral grip of TractionBack® assures that the modular carpet stays in place, yet the vertical grip is such that tiles can be easily removed or replaced. Carpet with TractionBack® is easier to remove over time. It does not become permanently adhered to the floor, as is often the case with “peel and stick” systems. There is no adhesive or sticky residue on access floor panels or subfloor to cause mess and extra expense at time of carpet replacement. The unique properties of TractionBack® make it ideal for underfloor access compared to “peel and stick” methods. For lower cost, faster installation, less waste, no chemicals required for floor preparation, and the lowest impact on indoor air quality, TractionBack® is the best choice compared to any other modular carpet installation system in the market. With ESP Backing, Milliken Modular Carpet has enhanced the 35% recycled content (based upon the total weight of the product) contained in its’ standard Comfort Plus® ES backing. This recycled content has a minimum 10% post-consumer content. Both Comfort Plus® and Underscore™ backings are available with this enhanced post consumer content. Use of this optional backing raises the NSF-140 rating to Platinum. All Milliken Modular Carpet is 100% recyclable. A "clean floor" is in a condition to accept carpet/carpet tile with no additional preparation other than sweeping it clean. Any other work, e.g. furniture removal, flash patching, cove molding, removal of existing carpet, disposal off-site, etc, will be quoted on a case by case basis after a site inspection. When installation is required in conjunction with carpet purchased under this contract, the carpet will be invoiced for separately and before the installation. Prices quoted are for work to be performed during normal working hours, Monday through Friday, holidays excluded. Where noted in the pricing, minimum charges for installation will apply. All work will be performed by either mill certified or FCIB certified installers. All work performed and materials used to install carpet will be guaranteed for a minimum of one year.
