Property Management since 1995.
David began his football officiating career in 1979 when he started officiating high school games. In 1983 he
began officiating at the Division 3 college level. He worked in the Big East Conference from 1992 to 1997 and in
Conference USA from 1998 to 2009. He has worked in the ACC since 2010.
Some of David’s career highlights include officiating 10 bowl games, a Conference USA Championship game, an
ACC Championship game and an Army/Navy game.
David and his wife Lisa have a daughter Megan, a son Hunter, and granddaughter Ella. When not working at one
of his careers, David enjoys golf & fishing.
FROM MIKE SNYDER AND DEWEY ROTENBERRY, LOCAL SERVICE: The Mountains of Music Homecoming needs
our assistance serving food and drinks Sat. June 13 from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM at the Montgomery Museum.
Come out and support local music and artistry! Sign-up sheets will be on the lunch tables this week. Counts as a
make-up too! On Sat. June 27th we plan to have a work day/picnic at the Wong Park in Blacksburg. We'll add a
fresh coat of stain to the shelter we built several years ago and clean up the paver bricks donated by Rotarians
and local businesses. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a picnic together! More details to follow.
TED TALAREK, ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE: The next Electronic Recycling event will be June 18.
FORE PLEASE! FROM THE GOLF TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE: The 15th Annual Rotary Club of Blacksburg
Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament is Monday, June 15 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The entry fee is $400 per
team/$100 per individual which includes green and cart fee, lunch before the tournament, one mulligan and one
raffle ticket. At the conclusion of play, there will be awards for winning teams and a raffle drawing for a variety
of prizes including restaurant and store gift certificates, golf passes and signed memorabilia. What we need now
is for Rotarians, friends, co-workers, family, etc. to register individually or as a team for the tournament.
Registration forms were emailed out and hard copies will be on the table at our weekly meeting. You can mail in
your form and entry fee to our PO Box (address is on the form) or you can give it to Aaron Summers or Jamie
Dunn at our weekly meeting. If you are not a golfer, there are other ways to get involved with volunteering the
day of the event such as helping with registration, monitoring hole in one holes, hosting, raffle prizes, etc. You
can also be a hole sponsor for only $100. It would be great to see everyone out at the golf course on June 15th!

FROM CHRIS BELLUZZO, YARD SALE COMMITTEE: We have a date! August 22. Save your items for donation
for our August Yard Sale! It’s never too early to start getting things together, so if you find good items be sure to
hold on to them. This year we will have some storage space available ahead of time so if you have something
that must go soon let the Yard Sale Committee know!
FROM MARQUITA HILL, ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE: Do a good deed for woodpeckers! The next time you
need to have a tree cut, leave the stump standing. Yes! Plant a lovely vine to twine around it. And you will do a
super favor for woodpeckers who will find yummy insects and grubs under the bark to eat. And not just
woodpeckers – many other birds can also feast. So, remember the birds.
FROM LESLIE JESTER, SECRETARY: How to Propose a New Member! Do you want to invite that professional
that you just met at a chamber mixer to our club meeting and see if they would be interested in becoming a
member of the club, but just aren't sure how to go about it??
1st - Invite them!! I think 99.9% of the club members would support the fact that we each came to the club and
joined because we were invited. We hope that you will introduce this potential member and let us know what
they do. But PLEASE do not introduce them as our next member of the club. There is a process of application
and not all who are proposed become members.
2nd - Complete the membership application and get it to me, Leslie Jester. Membership applications are
available from Hank and Leslie.
3rd - You are done. Now the behind the scene process begins and the proposed member is announced to the
Board of Directors for feedback during the course of a week. Then the proposed member is announced to the
membership for a week for feedback. If there is positive feedback, we generally invite the proposed member to
join our club by attending orientation, typically on the 3rd Thursday of the month, and induction at that
meeting.
4th - Bask in the glory of being a sponsor! Sponsorship also takes a level of responsibility. It is you who are
taking on the responsibility of showing this person the ropes of how our club works and making sure that they
get involved so that they are more than members, they become Rotarians.
BIRTHDAYS THIS MONTH: Send a birthday wish to your fellow Rotarian.
