Rep Rnds 1-12 for Stripe Pattern. BRIM With circular needle and A, cast on 84 sts. Join to work in the rnd, taking care not to twist sts; place marker for beg of rnd. Change to B. Work in 2x2 Rib until piece measures 2" [5 cm] from beg. BODY Change to Stripe Pattern; work even for 36 rnds (3 repeats of Stripe Pattern). MEASUREMENT Approx circumference: 22" [48 cm]. Set of five size 5 mm (U.S. 8) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker. Yarn needle. GAUGE 18 sts and 24 rnds = 4" [10 cm] in stripe pattern. CROWN Shape Crown Note: Change to dpns when necessary for number of sts on needle. Rnd 1: With A, knit. Rnd 2: *K2tog; rep from * to end — 42 sts remain. Rnd 3: With B, knit. Rnd 4: *K2tog; rep from * to end — 21 sts remain. Rnd 5: With A, knit. Rnd 6: *K2tog; rep from * to last st, k1—11 sts remain. Rnd 7: With B, knit. Rnd 8 : *K2tog; rep from * to last st, k1—6 sts remain. Break yarn, weave through remaining sts, cinch shut on WS. FINISHING Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
