May 21, 2015 Dear Parent/Guardian, “The souls of the just are in the hand of God” Wisdom 3:1 This weekend we begin the “unofficial start” of the summer with the holiday of Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States. It is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the military. These men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We live in freedom because of their willingness to give. During the next few days people will visit cemeteries and memorials to honor those who have died. Volunteers will place American flags on graves in national cemeteries. We will honor and give thanks for those whom we do not know personally but whom we know were people with a generous “spirit”. As we celebrate and enjoy this weekend, let us be mindful of those who have provided this gift of freedom for us all. Let us show our gratitude by remembering these men and women in our thoughts and prayers.
