Happy Easter to you all! Thanks to everyone who attended our Holy Week Services and those
who helped in anyway to make them so beautiful. Special thanks to Mark Averett and Todd
Myers who worked with me and the RCIA class preparation; to Marquita Stafford who worked
with our RCIC; to Father Ron and our two deacons who were present at all our services; to our
seminarian Brandon Bigam and John Daugherty and our servers; to the choir and organist Kim
Burch; to Trish Collier who was in charge of the floral arrangements; to Carolyn Rynkowski and
her helpers who cleaned in the church and the chapel; and to Andy and Rebecca Johns and those
who helped with the Easter Egg Hunt. We are truly blest here at St. Luke’s with wonderful
people.

Special Thanks—A couple of weeks ago at a weekend Mass, I spoke about a man who had come
to the office in need of financial assistance. He and his wife had five children, and he had lost
his job. He was desperately in need of help with food and his rent. I also asked if people could
help this family to please see me after Mass. Our Zacchaeus fund that weekend was the largest
we have ever received. Our parishioner Jeanne Miller, who is president of Sts. Peter and Paul
Regional School, heard me that weekend and as her students were fasting and praying, she asked
them if they could also add almsgiving to their Lenten sacrifices. They took up a collection at a
weekday Mass for the first time, and they collected $2,456. One-half of that total was given to a
family from their school who had just found out their son had leukemia. The other half was
brought to me at the rectory last Monday. Check out our website to see the two young ladies
who presented me with the check on behalf of their school. I appreciate Mrs. Miller who took
this opportunity to make a teaching moment for her students and for her students who took up
her challenge. Again, we are truly blest here at St. Luke’s. WCB
And one more thing . . . Time really flies! It seems like only yesterday when our parishioner
Rob Adams decided to enter the seminary. He has been studying in Rome, and he called me a
couple of weeks ago. It seems he will be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate—the step before
ordination to the priesthood—on Saturday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the
King in Lexington. Everyone is invited to attend this event! Even more exciting is that Rob’s
first duty will be preaching here at St. Luke’s that afternoon at our 4:30 p.m. Mass. What a gift
as we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi! I believe that Rob was one of our servers who spoke
with Bishop Gainer when he celebrated his (Bishop Gainer’s) first Corpus Christi in the Diocese
here at St. Luke’s. Rob and his family had an hour in our adoration chapel for many years and
their family and all of us are truly blest by our faithfulness to Our Lord! I hope you will make
plans to celebrate with Rob and his family during this day! WCB
A Prayer for the intention of Bishop-elect John Stowe
Heavenly Father, we ask your blessing upon Bishop-elect John Stowe. Give him peace of
mind, good health of body and joy of spirit as he prepares for his new task as Bishop in the Diocese
of Lexington. Following the example of your Son, the Good Shepherd, may Bishop-elect Stowe be
a merciful, wise, and joyful pastor. We ask this in the name of Jesus, the Lord.

The Lexington Mystics Girls Spring Camp--The Lexington Mystics club basketball team will be offering a spring camp for
all girls interested in learning the fundamental skills of basketball while fostering teamwork and friendship with other young
girls in the Catholic School System. The spring camp will be available for all girls between fourth and eighth grade. The camp

of Christ the King in Lexington. Being stricken with polio as a young child has not stopped her from

Ministry of Healing and Deliverance and is cofounder of the Institute of the Holy Spirit. She is the

In Memoriam—Please pray for the repose of the soul of Doris Schmelzer, mother of Father Ron
Schmelzer, who passed away on Wednesday morning at Taylor Manor Nursing Home. She will be buried

Morning Offering—O, Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works,
joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer
them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart; the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and the reunion

from carelessness or indifference, are not here today to worship You in the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass. Grant them, we beseech You, the light to see how empty life is without You, a right

Prayer for the Recently Deceased—Incline Your ear, O Lord, to our prayers, in which we
humbly entreat Your mercy. Bring to a place of peace and light the soul of Your servant,
(NAME), which You have summoned to go forth from this world, and bid him to be numbered in
the fellowship of Your saints. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers for Vocations Diocese of Lexington Daily Prayer for all Vocations--Heavenly
Father, Your divine Son taught us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His
vineyard. We earnestly beg You to bless our Diocese with many holy priests, seminarians,
religious, consecrated, deacons, marriages, men and women serving in ministry and all
vocations, that they will love You fervently, gladly and courageously spend their lives in service
to Your Son’s Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We pray that their lives may be
always centered on our Eucharistic Lord; that they be always faithful to the Holy Father; and that
they may be devoted sons and daughters of Mary, our Mother, in making You known and loved;
and that all may attain Heaven. Bless our families and our children and choose from our homes
those whom You desire for this holy work. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Prayer to End Abortion--Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of
all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I
rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my
part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself. Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never
to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to
stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again
becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our
Lord. Amen!
