Dear Parents/Caregivers
Thank you to all families who have been involved with our Thai students from Sacred Heart
Convent in Bangkok and also the group from Ayutthaya.
The hospitality and warmth you have shown is appreciated by all and contributes hugely to
the success of these programmes.
Please also be aware that on Friday, May 29th Chisnallwood will be involved with all other
schools in the Otakaro Cluster (Shirley Boys’ High School, Avonside Girls’ High School, Marian
College, Waitakiri Primary School, Banks Avenue Primary School, Shirley Primary and Shirley
Intermediate) by joining together for a full day series of professional development workshops
and guest speakers.
This is a major undertaking and is aimed at ensuring that all schools are preparing together
for the direction being stipulated by the Ministry of Education, as well as ensuring pedagogy
(the craft of teaching) is current for today’s learners regardless of age.
As I realise that not all families can make arrangements to keep their children at home on
that day I ask that you complete the slip below if your child will be coming to school as usual.
Please note that a reduced staff will be at Chisnallwood Intermediate to meet the needs of
those children who will be attending school on that day.
Thank you for your understanding regarding this. As it was only decided to proceed with this
day last term it has not been possible to advertise it in the year calendar.
Once again I remind the wider community that our Open Evening is on Wednesday, July 29th
from 6-8pm, however I also encourage all parents interested in finding out more about
Chisnallwood to contact the school at any time.
With best wishes.
Yours sincerely
