Our overall school attendance target is 95% and this week, we have dropped just below at 94.39%.

Easter Break– A reminder that school closes today at 2.00PM for the Easter holidays with the children returning to

school at the usual time on Monday 13 April
Training day – There will be a Teacher Training day on Friday 1st May so school will be closed on that day. PLEASE
NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIFFERENT DATE TO THE ONE IN LAST WEEKS NEWSLETTER, my apologies for any
inconvenience caused.
Sacraments – Congratulation to all the children in Year 6 who received the Sacrament from Bishop Byrne last Sunday
and thank you to all who attended and made the service so special.
Fund Raising – Many thanks to those who sold raffle tickets for the two Easter Bunny prizes, another great fund

raising event and raising £51.30 towards our fun day. Winners are – 1 Prize – ticket no. 349 – Jesna (4N) and 2 prize –
ticket no. 257 – Natasha (6W).
Easter Competitions – Thank you to all those who participated in the Easter Garden/Egg/ Bonnet competitions, as
usual the standards were high and the judging difficult, but well done to the winners from each classand indeed to all those
who took part. Please note the Liturgical Easter Gardens are due in after the holidays.
School Bank – The school bank will next be open on Tuesday 14th April at 8.30AM in the school hall
School Gates – Please note, for safeguarding reasons, after Easter, the school gates will not be open until 8.30am
when a member of staff is visible on the playground. Please ensure children do not arrive before 8.30am.
Old School Uniform – the parish are collecting old school uniforms to send to Africa. Having a school uniform
enables children to attend school. Please send any old uniform you have which is in clean, good condition into school.
Mass – Mass is held on a Thursday morning each week at around 9.15am, parents are most welcome.
Monday is Money Day – Could parents please ensure that wherever possible, all monies coming into school for
dinners and trips is sent into school on a Monday. Could I also remind parents it is the policy of the school that any change
due from money is not sent home with the children. All change should be collected from the school office on the evening of
the day it sent in, or as soon as is practically possible after that date. Any change not collected after six weeks is then paid
into the school fund account which is used to purchase various goods and materials for the children.

Trips – The following trips are coming up in the near future:
Rec trip Stratford Butterfly Farm – Thursday 16 April. The children back at the end of the school day.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT RETURN TIMES ARE DEPENDANT ON TRAFFIC. WE WILL ALWAYS TRY TO
COMMUNICATE BY TEXT ANY UPDATES WE RECEIVE.
Contact Details – Please note that in future any changes to children’s details (emergency contacts etc.) must be
made using the relevant form available from the school office. Only one parent/carer (who has personal responsibility for
the child) can make these changes – so please make sure the form is completed by the first contact on our records.
Parents will continue to be shown the existing contact details annually during parents evening and changes can be made at
that time so long as the sheet is signed by the first contact.
Irish Dancing – Irish Dancing Classes are held in school on Saturday mornings, 10am to 1.00pm. For further

Choir – Choir is on Thursday after school for years 4, 5, 6.
Swimming – Year 3 will continue to swim on a Monday afternoon [please be aware that their return to school can be
affected by traffic conditions, however they should return for normal home time -3.15pm] and Year 4 swim on a
Tuesday. Letters have been sent out to say who will be swimming this half term.
Late Children – As you are aware we have been monitoring late arrivals, I am pleased to inform you that there has
been a vast improvement, thank you for your support. A reminder that if your child arrives late for school you must escort
him/her into the main entrance (white double doors). Please do not drop children off to make their own way into the building.
Registers close at 9.05, if your child arrives after this time they will be marked as late. If your child arrives after 9.15 they
will be marked as unauthorised for the morning session and this will therefore impact on attendance.
School Meals Working Party – Direct Services, who supply our school meals, have asked for volunteer parents (of
children who have school meals) to take part in a group working with them to promote our school dinners. If you are
interested please contact the school office.
School Meals– Please note that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal and this
will be ordered for them unless we are specifically told otherwise. Children from Year 3 onwards still have to pay I’m afraid
unless they are entitled to a free meal due to your having a benefits claim.
Price Increase – Please note with effect from 13th April 2015 there will be an increase to dinner money by 5p.
Therefore dinner money will be £2.10 per day, £10.50 per week.
Milk – Please bear in mind that your child can join the Cool Milk scheme at any time, unlike the scheme we used to run
ourselves, you don’t have to wait for a new term – just register your child on www.coolmilk.com or ring them on 0844 854
2913. You can also choose the period you pay for – the rest of the half term, through to Easter, or the rest of this school
year. After half term, in compliance with new government food standards, milk will be available to all children who have a
free school meal at lunch time.
Free Meals on trip days – Please note that if your child is receiving free meals in school he/she is also entitled to a
packed lunch provided by the school on trip days. If you would like to order a free meals packed lunch please inform the
office at least 3 days before the date of the trip so that it can be pre-ordered.
Big Community Support – We have an organisation called The Big Community supporting us with emotional heath
and attendance issues. Our attendance Social Worker is Vinny Singh who may be contacting parents where school has
concerns.
Inhalers - If your child brings an inhaler into school make sure that it is labelled with his/her name.
Infectious Diseases – We have three children in school who are being treated for Leukaemia, which results in
lowered resistance to infectious diseases. If your child, or a member your family, contracts any condition such as mumps,
measles, German measles or chicken pox please inform the school.
