Teacher helpers benefit all the students in a class by working with groups of students designated by the teacher. All teacher helpers are required to present a copy of a current Working with Children Check to the school prior to helping out and attend a training session. It is also a necessary requirement of the school that you read and sign a confidentiality agreement each year. If you are interested in participating in our “Parents as Teacher Helpers” program and have NOT previously attended a training session, please select and attend one of the sessions listed below. These sessions are designed to inform parents about the role of teacher helpers. The issues of privacy and confidentiality will also be addressed. All sessions will be held in the teacher space next to my office in the Junior Building at the following times. Parents are asked to nominate to attend ONE of these sessions. Each session will be of approximately 15 minutes in duration. Session Four – Tuesday 5th May at 9:15 am Session Five – Thursday 7th May at 3:00 pm If you are interested in being a Teacher Helper and have NOT previously participated in a training session, please complete the form below and return it to your child’s teacher by Monday 4h April 2015. LATE BOOKINGS AND LATE CANCELLATIONS REMINDER: Just a reminder to families if your child is ill, or has a last minute appointment/play date and will not be attending before or after school care on any of their usual days, PLEASE ensure to contact us to let us know that they will not be attending. Once all the children have signed on for aftercare (approx. 3.40pm), myself or Tanya then go through the roll and assess who we are still missing. On average each night we have 10 children who have not signed in or had prior notice of cancellation. We then have to check with the front office if they were away for the day, or we check at the flag pole to see if perhaps they have forgotten to sign on not knowing they are booked in. If we still haven’t located them, we contact the parents/guardians. 9 out of 10 times we here “sorry Darcy has a play date tonight” or “I have collected him early”. If parents/guardians could please ensure to remember to notify OSHC BEFDRE 2pm on the day if possible to avoid being charged a late cancellation fee of $2 plus the actual cost of that session. If a minimum of 48 hrs notice or a medical certificate is provided, then you will not incur these fees. STAFFING UPDATE: Over the past few weeks we have had some staffing changes in OSHC. Sadly Liam and Annabel have both hung up their purple T-shirts and will no longer be working in OSHC at NFPS due to University commitments. Both Liam and Annabel are undertaking Masters in Teaching Degrees and are finding their schedules pretty crazy with placement and lectures and therefore can no longer set aside time to work at OSHC. Oliver has gained part time employment elsewhere which fits in with his University commitments. We wish them all the best for the future and thank them for their hard work and dedication during their time here at NFPS OSHC. We welcome a new staff member, Zoe, who comes to us with a vast experience working in OSHC. Zoe has a background in directing and performing arts.
