Page 2 Warrior News Counselor’s Corner Parents Can Be “Study Buddies” With all of the testing going on, your child can feel extra pressure at this time of the year. He may be trying to raise grades before that last report card. It helps if a parent is a “Study Buddy”- a helpful parent who encourages his child. Parents are great for this because you can show your child how to divide big tasks into small steps. Use flashcards to help study spelling words or math facts. Listen as your child reads aloud. Make sure homework instructions are understood. Last, but not least, praise your child’s efforts and progress. Keep the learning going by using old tests and class assignments as review during the summer. Your child will be proud of what he remembers, and reviewing will keep the lessons fresh. Romilda Jenkins, Counselor Aundrial Booker, Social Worker Counselor’s are here for guidance.
