Intermediate football championship - Mungret St Pauls 3-5 : Oola 2-10
Our intermediate squad played the first round of the championship on Saturday evening against Oola in
Caherconlish. A slow start saw them behind 1-6 to 0-2 at half time as Darren Coffey played his part with a
couple of fine saves. The second half started more brightly with changes to the formation bringing an
improvement. However the scores were not coming from possession as Oola hit good points to maintain the gap
on the scoreboard. They stretched it further with an opportunist goal following another Mungret attack
breaking down and the gap was now 11 points. To their credit our players fought back strongly to dominate
possession for the quarter and hit 3 fine goals. The last few minutes saw a depleted Oola hanging on to a 2 point
lead as our players could not cap a stirring comeback with a draw or a win.
They play Galbally in the second round in 1 weeks time. Later rounds will be against Athea, Glin & Cappamore.
In a group of 6, three teams will go through to the knockout stage in September.
The team lined out as; D Coffey, S Dilworth, E Rice, S O'Dea, D Brosnan, B O'Grady, K Ryan, B O'hAnnaidh, M
Cussen, J Roche, K South, S Moran, J Walsh, B Giltenane, D Giltenane. Subs used L O'Connell and A Storan
Scorers; D Giltenane 2-0, K Ryan 1-0, B Giltenane 0-2, B O'hAnnaigh 0-2, K South 0-1
Féile Camogie
On Sunday our U14 Team traveled to Rathkeale for this years Féile competition in anticipation of having a good
campaign. Nothing prepared us for what was to occur on the day. From the onset of the competition team
mentors had our girls fired up for combat as we took to the field against Newcastlewest we were more than
ready. Despite a slow start we kept in touch with NCW but just couldn’t breach their line as often as our work
rate deserved and lost the match by the smallest of margins. A pep talk and a quick hit of chocolate and we were
ready for our next match against Bruff a must win if we were to make it into the semi-finals. For the second time
in two weeks we ran out winners on the slimmest of margins beating Bruff by a point.
There was little time to reflect on this victory, as we were straight into playing our close neighbours Ballybrown.
Both teams were competitive and put huge effort into the match with some fine displays of talent from both
sides however when the final whistle blew Mungret had secured victory and were through to the final against
Murroe- Boher. Mungret took an early lead in the final going 1-1 up without reply in the first half and were
hugely effective in the defense not allowing Murroe- Boher any time on the ball to build up any kind of
momentum. As expected Murroe- Boher came out in the second half full of running and quickly eat into our
lead. Our girls continued to attack and were very efficient in taking scores when they got into the opposition half
with literately 30 seconds left on the clock Murroe - Boher scored a goal to take the match to extra-time. Despite
some very tired bodies Mungret took to the field for extra time buoyed up by the prize on offer to represent
Limerick in this years Féile in Northern Ireland and the words of wisdom from the sideline our girls smashed
extra-time and were deserving Féile Champions for 2015. Let the adventure begin!!!

Emer scored 2-2 and tormented the Clare backs for the duration of the game. Final score Limerick 6-6 Clare 3-6

Junior Ladies Football
Our Junior footballers hosted Granagh Ballingarry last Wednesday evening. With a few of the regulars missing
from the line out the girls gave it everything. When it looked like Granagh Ballingarry were going to pull a win
out of the game our girls finished
better and ran out winners 2-10 to 1-6.
Junior Camogie
A great weekend for Mungret St Paul’s Camogie was kicked off on Friday evening with a comprehensive win by
our junior team Shannonside against Templeglantine. In absolutely terrible conditions our girls put in huge
performance with all our forwards getting on the score line before halftime. A spirited effort in the second half
with our entire bench been utilized saw us win on a score line of 6-14 to 1-1. Shannonside go through to the
league semi-final next Sunday at 6pm against Killmallock in Mungret your support of this match would be much
appreciated.
Intermediate Hurling
It rained the whole way to the match and during the warm up but the minute
the match started the rain stopped and stayed off for the whole match which
made it a bit easier for all on the pitch.
Mungret pulled ahead very quickly with Brian Begley scoring a hat trick. After
half time Cappamore brought the lead closer but never quite made it. A great
win for Mungrets records 3-16 to 0-16

U12 Ladies Football
On Tuesday night the Community Games U12s ladies footballers played Murroe Boher in Mungret in desperate
weather conditions. For those who could actually see the ball through the wind and rain saw the Regional /
Mungret girls play some lovely football. Goals from Monica Sheehan and Ciara O'Keeffe and points from
Monica and Maria Campbell saw our girls run out winners 2-2 to 0-2. The girls will play out the remainder of
their games in Murroe on Friday evening.
U11 Hurling
On Thursday 30th of April a team of fresh faced U11s took to Mungret pitch in
a friendly match against Bruff. There was a lot of young skill shown on the
field at this match from both sides. Mungret ran out the winners. Some of
these played again on Tuesday 5th in the Community Games and were
victorious in this match also.

U15 Hurling
The 15s have been out for 3 matches so far. The first was against Garryspillane at home where they were met by
a strong team and had to work very hard but never gave up. A disapointing loss at this match . They next went
up against Ahane on their home pitch, the weather was great and the boys had a lovely match overcoming
Ahane and winning. The last match they played was against Na Piarsaigh where it was a tight match but some
handy scoring brought Mungret out front.
