Unless A Grain of Wheat Dies
Estimados Hermanos y Amigos de San Juan Bautista,
A medida que nos acercamos rápidamente a la semana que
llamamos “Santa”, que hermosas son las Sagradas Escrituras en
preparación de nuestros corazones y nuestras mentes para entrar
intensamente y profundamente en el Misterio Pascual—el
sufrimiento, muerte y resurrección de Cristo—mediante el cual
nos salvara. La Primera Lectura de Jeremías describe la promesa
del Señor:
Se acerca el tiempo, dice el SEÑOR, en que hare con la
casa de Israel y la casa de Judá una alianza nueva . . .
No será como la alianza que hice con los padres de
ustedes. . . Esta será la alianza nueva que voy a hacer. .
. Voy a poner mi ley en lo más profundo de su mente y
voy a grabarla en sus corazones. Yo seré su Dios y ellos
serán mi pueblo.
Dear People and Friends of San Juan Bautista,
As we quickly approach the week we call “Holy,”
how beautiful are the Sacred Scriptures in preparing our
hearts and minds to enter more deeply and profoundly
the Paschal Mystery—Christ’s suffering, death and
resurrection—by which we are being saved. The First
Reading from Jeremiah describes the Lord’s promise:
The days are coming, says the LORD,
when I will make a new covenant with the house of
Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the
covenant I made with their fathers. . . But this is the
covenant that I will make. . . I will place my law within
them and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
Jeremías habla de la Alianza Nueva y Eterna que tenemos
en la Sangre de Cristo. También se refiere a que Dios ha escrito
en nuestros corazones Su ley y Su voluntad divina por la que
nosotros debemos establecer una conexión con Él y con los
demás. A esto le llamamos conciencia de la ley de Dios y
voluntad divina, nuestra CONCIENCIA. Promover el
desarrollo de nuestra conciencia es la responsabilidad de cada
hijo e hija de Dios. Lo hacemos a través de un mayor
conocimiento de la Palabra de Dios, por medio del estudio de
nuestra fe Católica y a través de una vida de oración profunda.
Jeremiah is speaking of the New and Eternal
Covenant we have in the Blood of Christ. He also refers
to God writing on our hearts his law and divine will for
how we are to relate to Him and one another. We call
this awareness of God’s law and divine will our
CONSCIENCE. Promoting the development of our
conscience is the responsibility of each son and daughter
of God. We do that through greater knowledge of God’s
Word, through study of our Catholic faith and through a
deeper life of prayer.
Una conciencia bien formada es tan importante en la
profundización de una relación con el Señor, porque cuando
nuestra conciencia está pobremente o inadecuadamente
formada, es probable que los caminos del mundo influyan en
nosotros. Con una conciencia bien formada, estaremos
dispuestos a morir al pecado y al egoísmo y vivir más para el
Señor. Jesús nos recuerda esto en el Evangelio de hoy:
A well-formed conscience is so important in a
deepening relationship with the Lord, for when our
conscience is poorly or inadequately formed the ways of
the world will more likely sway us. With a well-formed
conscience, we will be ready to die to sin and selfishness
and live more for the Lord. Jesus refers to this in the
gospel today as he says:
Yo les aseguro que, si el grano de trigo, sembrado en la
tierra, no muere, queda infecundo; pero si muere,
producirá mucho fruto.
Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls
to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat;
but if it dies, it produces much fruit.
El Señor describe no sólo su propia muerte que da vida,
sino también el modo de matar el egoísmo para que el amor
pueda ser absoluto.
The Lord is describing not only his own death that
gives life, but also the process of putting selfishness to
death so that love may be complete.
La Cuaresma nos ofrece la oportunidad de desarrollar
nuestra sensibilidad hacia el SEÑOR que habla en lo profundo
de nuestro ser, es decir, a través de nuestra CONCIENCIA.
Nuestra conciencia nos conduce a la reconciliación con el
SEÑOR mediante el Sacramento de la Confesión. Por favor
haga planes de asistir a nuestro Servicio Penitencial este Jueves
o aproveche cualquier otra oportunidad de Confesión antes de la
Pascua.
Lent offers us the opportunity to develop more fully
our sensitivity to the LORD who speaks in the depths of
our being—that is—through our CONSCIENCE. Our
conscience then leads us to reconciliation with the
LORD through the Sacrament of Confession. Please plan
on attending our Penance Service this Thursday or one of
the other opportunities for Confession before Easter.

How to go to Confession
I.
Preparación
A. Examen de Conciencia – usando los diez
mandamientos y las enseñanzas de Cristo, el penitente
examina su conciencia y reconoce sus pecados.
B. Contrición – Pena por el Pecado – el penitente
debe estar arrepentido por todos sus pecados.
II. El Sacramento de la Confesión
A. Señal de la Cruz
B. El tiempo desde su ultima confesión y luego
la confesión de sus pecados.
El penitente le dice al sacerdote cuanto tiempo ha
pasado desde su ultima confesión. Luego el confiesa
TODO pecado serio y pecados graves que recuerde,
El concluye su confesión con las palabras “por estos
y todos mis pecados, me arrepiento”
C. Consejo y penitencia dada por el sacerdote – la
penitencia comienza a reparar el daño causado por el
pecado.
D. Acto de Contrición – esta oración expresa
contrición y pena por sus pecados.
Dios mío, con todo mi corazón me arrepiento de
todo el mal que he hecho y de todo lo bueno que he
dejado de hacer. Al pecar, te he ofendido a ti, que eres el
supremo bien y digno de ser amado sobre todas las
cosas. Propongo firmemente, con la ayuda de tu gracia,
hacer penitencia, no volver a pecar y huir de las
ocasiones de pecado. Señor, por los méritos de la Pasión
de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, apiádate de mí. Amen.
E. Absolución – en nombre de Dios y en nombre de la
Iglesia, el sacerdote perdona a la persona:
Dios, Padre misericordioso, que reconcilió consigo al
mundo por la muerte y la resurrección de su Hijo y derramó
el Espíritu Santo para la remisión de los pecados, te
conceda, por el ministerio de la Iglesia, el perdón y la paz,
y yo te absuelvo de tus pecados en el nombre del Padre, y
del Hijo + del Espíritu Santo. Amen.
III. Acción de Gracias y Penitencia – el penitente sale del
confesionario para dar gracias a Dios y completar la
penitencia dada por el sacerdote. La confesión no es
completa hasta que la penitencia se haya cumplido.

begins to repair the damage of sin
D. Act of Contrition – this prayer expresses contrition
or sorrow for one’s sins
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have
sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no
more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our
Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his
name, my God, have mercy. Amen.
E. Absolution – in God’s name and in the name of the
Church, the priest forgives the person:
God the Father of mercies, through the death and
resurrection of his Son, has reconciled the world to himself
and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of
sins, through the ministry of the Church may God give you
pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the
name of the Father + and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit. Amen.
III. Thanksgiving and Penance – the penitent leaves the
confession to thank God and to complete the penance
given by the priest. Confession is not complete until the
penance is complete.

En nuestro Centro Pre-Escolar San Juan Bautista nuestra
misión es trabajar junto con los padres de niños de 2 a 5 años,
para proporcionar la mejor educación posible para sus hijos/as.
Estamos orgullosos de decir que tenemos 28 niños/as que
asisten a nuestra Escuela; esto ha sido una bendición para
nosotros.
En este momento tenemos 3 espacios disponibles a
tiempo completo o tiempo parcial para niños de 2-5 años.
Las horas de la escuela son de 6:00 AM—5:30 PM de lunes a
viernes durante todo el año. Aceptamos pagos de CCIS y
también ofrecemos asistencia financiera. Ofrecemos

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA LEARNING CENTER
At San Juan Bautista Pre-School, our mission is to work
closely with parents of children ages 2–5 years old, to
provide the best possible education for their young children.
We are proud to say that we have 28 children attending our
Center, and this has been a blessing to us.
We currently have 3 full-time or part-time spaces
available for children 2-5 years. Our School is open year
round from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM., Monday through Friday.
We accept CCIS and also offer financial assistance. Our
program offers breakfast, lunch and snack! For more

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL COACHES NEEDED
St. Joseph Catholic Club is in need of
coaches for our youth Baseball and Softball
teams. Man or woman, as long as you love
kids and would like to help us teach them the
fundamentals of the game, we need your
help. We have the players for 7 teams, but not enough
coaches. Practices have already started, in our gym, as

Any boy or girl (in grades 4th thru 12th who has received
first communion) who would like to become an altar server is
invited to our first training session on Monday, April 6 at 6:00
PM. Come serve the Lord by serving at the Holy Mass. Fr.
Wolfe is particularly looking to our newly confirmed youth to
help in this ministry.

BAUTIZOS ENCUARESMA - Baptisms in Lent
Por favor, recuerde que el don más importante
que pueden dar a sus hijos después del don de la
vida es el don del amor de Dios y la gracia en el
Sacramento del Bautismo. Por favor, no espere meses o un año
o dos para bautizar a sus hijos. El Bautismo debe celebrarse
dentro de las primera semanas del nacimiento de su bebé. Para
preparar a los padres y padrinos, la parroquia provee 2 clases
separadas. Estas clases pueden ser tomadas, incluso antes de
que nazca el bebé. Para mas información y registración pase por
la oficina parroquial durante la semana. Durante la Cuaresma,
no habrá bautizos el 2 º y 4 º Sábados.
Un bebé recién nacido puede ser bautizado durante la
Cuaresma, haciendo una cita con el Padre Wolfe. Los próximos
Bautismos serán: Domingo de Resurrección, 5 de Abril y el
Sábado 11 de Abril.
Please remember that the most important gift you can give
your child after the gift of life is the gift of God's love and grace
in the Sacrament of Baptism. Please do not wait months or a
year or two to baptize your child. Baptism should be celebrated
within weeks of your baby's birth. To prepare parents and
godparents, the parish provides 2 separate classes. The next
Baptism class will be March 28th. These classes may be
attended even before the baby is born. For registration or
information visit the office during the week. During Lent, there
will be no regularly scheduled baptisms on the 2nd and 4th
Saturdays.

La Diócesis de Harrisburg ofrecerá boletos
para Hersheypark a un costo rebajado para todas las
personas que los ordenen antes del 20 de Abril.
El costo por adulto 9-54 años $33.50; niños de 3-8 y
mayores de 55-69 años $28.50; para mayores de 70 años
$21.95. Cupón de Comida—$14.00 y este año también
ofrecen vale de estacionamiento por solo $7.50. Las ordenes
se tendrán que hacer y pagar por adelantado en la oficina
parroquial con Teresa Zapata antes del 20 de Abril.
