Mr. Gash and KHS Ignition TV Rocks!
KHS IgnitionTV stole the show at the
annual Video Awards Ceremony held on
May 5 at Victory Baptist Church. Since
IgnitionTV was formed in the fall of
2010 under the direction of Mr. Gash,
KHS has racked up 39 nominations and
10 wins. This year, IgnitionTV increased
these stats even more and made their
mark at the Video Awards Ceremony.
We thank Mr. Gash and his ITV students
who work extremely hard every single
day producing a daily show for our staff
and students. It takes commitment and
many long hours to submit entries for the annual video awards. There are 10 competitive categories at the elementary
and secondary level to include: Daily News Show, Commercial, Music Video, Solo Male Announcer, Solo Female Announcer, Announcing Team, Technology Showcase, Documentary, School Promotional Video and Continued on Pg. 3.
Join us in the main media center for our Parent Compact Meeting on Tuesday, May 12 at 3 pm.
The Title I KHS Parent Compact will be reviewed and updated based on your input. Please email
[email protected] or [email protected] if you are able to attend.
2015 Silver Garland Celebration
The Silver Garland Awards ceremony held on May 4, 2015 at Branscomb Auditorium
was very exciting for our KHS seniors, Coral Barron, Conor Belvin, Alberto
Camargo, Taeler Dupre and Alexis Gomez. Alberto Camargo received the
prestigious Silver Garland award for his service in the area of Journalism.
Awards were given in 11 categories, all of which emphasize community service. Winners received $1,000 and a crystal trophy. All nominees were awarded a certificate of
merit. Congratulations seniors for your service to our school and district.

2015 Baccalaureate Speech Competition
KHS has a tradition of allowing 3 outstanding seniors to speak to their fellow graduates
during the Baccalaureate ceremony. One senior shares memories from elementary, another shares about middle school, and a third shares about high school. The purpose of
these speeches is to “relive” your 13 year career in education and connect with your
classmates about the past, present and future. This year, we have decided to have a friendly competition to see who
gets the privilege of speaking at Baccalaureate. To apply, simply complete the form below and return to Mr. Thacker
by Wednesday, May 13th. Finalists will be selected from the returned applications. Each finalist will have to give his/
her speech to a panel of judges at a scheduled time. The winners (one for each category – elementary, middle, and high
school memories) will be a part of the Baccalaureate program on May 31st at Victory Church. Interested seniors can
pick up an application in main office or download from our website.
