Purpose
This document is designed to assist staff to determine large email items, save them in their
personal storage and delete emails in their ANUmail account
How do I login to my ANU Email?
1. Open a web browser (eg internet explorer, firefox etc)
2. In the address bar type https://anumail.anu.edu.au
3. Enter your username (ANU ID) and password.
4. Select Sign In.

How do I know if I have emails that are 25MB or larger?
To determine the file size of emails and attachments:
1. In the Inbox message window, select the Size field to sort messages by size.
2. Scroll to locate items that are 25MB or greater.
3. Repeat this process for all the folders in you mailbox.
Note: Please ensure all emails with attachments that are 25MB and bigger have been saved
and deleted in your account prior to migration to avoid any issues.

How do I save the attachments in my email?
Attachments are items or files that are included in an email. An email with an attachment is
indicated by an icon—that looks similar to a paper clip—alongside the message in the
message list.
To save an attachment to the hard disc of your computer:
1. In the Inbox message window, locate and select the Attachment group field.
2. Select an email with an attachment you want to save.
3. Locate the attachments on the header (see image below).
4. Right-click on an attachment.
5. Select Save File.

6. The system will ask Do you want to open or save this file?
7. Select Save
8. Choose a file location to save the attachment and then select Save
Note: Please ensure you copy the files to your personal storage devices (eg Portable Hard
drive, USB stick etc) and delete the files in the folder when using a public or shared computer.

How do I delete emails in my ANUmail account?
To delete emails:
1. In the Inbox window, locate and select the email (by checking the box alongside the
email) you want to delete.
2. Select Delete.
Note: Please ensure you have selected the correct email message to delete, as the system
does not ask any confirmation after you have selected delete.
Next, empty the deleted items in the Trash to permanently remove the message in your
mailbox. To do this:
1. Right-click on the Trash folder in your mailbox..
2. Select Empty Trash.

3. Confirm deletion by selecting OK.
